Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent defective printing caused by paper dust, by a method wherein, an air blow-off port is provided toward an ink jet direction and lateral movement of the port is performed while blowing off air, thereby paper dust is kept away from the ink jet head. CONSTITUTION:The both side edges of an end face whereon the nozzle 107 of an ink jet head 101 is provided is notched slantwise and a blow-off port 111 is provide facing the front in parallel with a nozzle array. When printing is performed with the ink jet head 101 and a paper bail being moved laterally 105, and air is blown off forward from the port 111. Said air stream 112 flows toward a printing paper 103, and the air flow impinging against the paper surface, turns its flow direction by 90 deg. and flows along the paper 103. By this movement of the air flow 112 the paper dust deposited on the paper surface is wiped off. Thereby, the paper dust never adheres on a gap 108, resulting in the prevention of the occurrence of defective printing.
