Abstract

PURPOSE:To execute simultaneously both the supply and recovery of a developer by fitting attachably/detachably an unused developer vessel and a used developer vessel as a unit. CONSTITUTION:The used developer removed by a cleaning device 7 is recovered by a developer recovery/supply device 9 arranged on the upper part of a developing device 4 and properly fed to the developing device 4. The device 9 consists of a cylindrical developer box 91 forming a developer supply port 92 to the developing device 4 and a used developer inlet 93 for entering the used developer from the cleaning device 7. A soft partition sheet 94 for preventing an unused developer to be supplied to the developing device 4 from mixing with the used developer removed by the cleaning device 7 is formed on the inside of the box 91. Lids 95, 96 are applied to an unused developer supply port 92 and a used developer inlet 93 respectively and these lids are simultaneously opened/ closed only by a single operation.

(Prior art) Conventionally, in electrostatic recording devices such as electrophotographic copying machines and facsimile machines that record image information using electrophotographic processing, developer is consumed and decreased as recording occurs, so development is performed so that developer is replenished every certain number of sheets recorded. A developer supply container is provided above the device.

On the other hand, in this type of electrostatic recording device, the latent image of image information formed on the photoconductor by exposure scanning is visualized by a developing device and transferred to recording paper, but developer remains on the photoconductor after transfer. Therefore, it is removed by wiping off with a cleaning device and collected. For this purpose, a developer collection container is provided.

In an electrostatic recording device using a photoreceptor drum, various devices necessary for electrophotographic processing, such as a developing device and a transfer device, are arranged around the photoreceptor drum in the order of electrophotographic processing. It is usually provided separately from the developer recovery container, and some of these containers are of a cartridge type for easy replacement depending on the model.

Replenishment of developer is essential for producing high-quality images, so many devices automatically detect the number of sheets recorded or a decrease in image density. There is a problem that if a person forgets to collect the waste, the collection container becomes clogged and leaks into the surrounding area, contaminating the inside of the device or causing a malfunction.

FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of an embodiment of an electrostatic recording apparatus according to the present invention, in which 1 is a photosensitive belt that moves at a constant speed and continuously in the direction of the arrow, and a photoconductor photoconductor is placed on a conductive substrate. It is coated. Around the photosensitive belt 1, there are various devices necessary for normal electrophotographic processing, namely, a charging gs2 for uniformly charging the photosensitive plate 1 to a constant potential by corona discharge, and an exposure device having an exposure head for exposing the photosensitive belt 1. a scanning device 6; a magnetic brush type developing device 4 that develops the electrostatic latent image formed on the photosensitive belt 1 by the exposure scanning device 3 with a developer;
, a transfer electrode 6 for transferring the visible image formed on the photosensitive belt 1 onto the recording paper P fed by the paper feeding device 5, and a cleaning device 7 for removing the developer remaining on the photosensitive belt 1 after the transfer. The recording paper P onto which the toner image has been transferred is fixed by the fixing device 8 and discharged outside the device.◇The used developer removed by the cleaning device 7 is collected and developed. A developer collection and replenishment device installed at the top of device 4? The developing device 4 is collected and replenished as appropriate.

In the electrostatic recording apparatus illustrated here, the exposure scanning device 3 is moved obliquely to the moving direction of the photosensitive belt 1 over the photosensitive belt 1 that moves at a constant speed and continuously, thereby making it possible to move the photosensitive belt 1 over the moving direction of the photosensitive belt 1. The exposure scanning device 5 has two exposure heads S1 and 32 fixed at equal intervals to an endless belt that circulates continuously during the recording operation. Each exposure head has multiple LEDs
LED array and LE arranged in the moving direction of the photosensitive belt
7 which forms the light emitted image from the D array onto the photosensitive belt.
Although the exposure head itself is composed of an exposure module incorporating an optical lens array, a detailed explanation thereof will be omitted since the exposure head itself is not directly related to the present invention. If you need details about this exposure head, please refer to the patent application entitled "Electrostatic Recording Apparatus" filed on the same day by the same applicant as the present application.

The developer collection and replenishment device 9 is a developer supply port 9 to the developing device 4.
2 and the used developer intake port 9 from the cleaning device 7
It consists of a cylindrical developer box 91 provided with 3 and 3, and inside the developer box, unused developer to be supplied to the developing device from now on and already used developer removed by the cleaning device are mixed. A soft partition sheet 94 is provided to prevent this from happening. The unused developer supply port 92 and the used developer intake port 93 are respectively provided with lids 95 and 96, and these lids 95 and 96 can be opened and closed simultaneously in one operation.

Since the developer box 91 is initially filled with the developer T1 to be replenished as shown in FIG. 2(A), the partition sheet 94 is pushed to a position where it blocks the developer intake port 93. As the recording operation progresses, the development in the developing device 4,
When the developer concentration decreases, when the lid 95 is opened to replenish the developer manually or automatically, the lid 96 is also opened at the same time, and the developer is removed by the cleaning device 7, as shown in FIG. The used developer accumulated therein enters the developer box 91 from the intake port 93. At this time, the partition sheet 94 in the developer box 91 is lowered by the amount of the supplied developer, so the used developer T2 is collected in the space created there. Thereafter, developer is replenished every time a predetermined number of sheets are recorded or every time the developer concentration falls below a specified value, and unused developer T for replenishment is carried out in the developer box 91.
1 gradually decreases, and the partition sheet 94 moves down. Each time the developer is replenished, the developer is collected from the developer intake port 93, and the amount of collected used developer T gradually increases. After replenishing the developer several times, the unused developer T1 for replenishment disappears, and the used recovered developer T2 is completely stored in the developer box 91. When this state occurs, the developer box 91 is replaced.

In this way, by simultaneously opening and closing the developer supply port 92 and the collected developer intake port 93 provided in the developer box in one operation, it is possible to reliably replenish and collect the developer at the same time. Therefore, forgetting to collect the developer can be prevented. The shape of the box is not limited to a cylindrical shape, but may be any shape such as a box shape. Further, the opening/closing mechanism for the developer supply port and the developer intake port provided in the developer box can be considered relatively easily even if it is an automatic type.

In the above embodiment, the used developer was collected and the unused developer was replenished using the same developer box, but what is important in the present invention is that the same developer box is used to collect and replenish the developer. The problem is not that the developer collection container and the replenishment container are made into a unit. Therefore, it goes without saying that the developer recovery chamber and the supply chamber may be separate chambers.

(Effects of the Invention) As explained above, in the present invention, an unused developer container that stores the developer to be supplied to the Sakai image device and a used developer container that stores the developer collected from the cleaning device are separated. Since it is provided as a detachable unit, the used developer must be collected when replenishing the developer, so there is no need to forget to collect the developer, and there is no risk of contaminating the inside of the device with the developer. Further, by using a developer container as in the present invention, the collection container and toner replenishment container, which were conventionally provided in separate locations, can be used in common, making it possible to save space.
