PURPOSE:To electrify a developer enough to stick to a developer carrier by holding down both end parts of a developer layer forming member only in the contacting part between the developer carrier and the developer layer forming member and positions near this contacting part by a reinforcing member which is provided for pressing the developer layer forming member. CONSTITUTION:When a developing roll 20 is rotated in the direction of an arrow, a developer 14 stored in a developer hopper 16 is carried to the part surrounded with an electrifying blade 24 and the surface of the developing roll 20 through a developer supply hole 21. Since the developer 14 is pressed on the surface of the developing roll 20 in this part by the electrifying blade 24, a thin layer of the developer 14 is formed, and the developer 14 is triboelectrified in the pressing stage.
