A reactor well 4 is provided above the reactor pressure vessel 1 to fill with water when replacing the fuel assembly 2, thereby shielding radiation exposure during fuel replacement work. The fuel exchange work is performed from a fuel exchange machine 5 provided at the top of the reactor well 4. Refueling work is very difficult to do because it is a remote operation under water. In addition, with conventional lighting, two types of lighting equipment, one for wide area and one for narrow area, are moved close to the required area. There were problems in that the cords of the equipment moved and the water surface swayed, making it difficult to see inside the reactor, and that the lighting equipment obstructed maintenance and inspection work, increasing workers' radiation exposure.

The underwater lighting device of the present invention has the problem that the underwater lighting device 6 is disposed inside a watertight container on a support arranged in a ring shape around the inner wall of the reactor pressure vessel 1, which obstructs work during maintenance and inspection. Therefore, there is no problem of the water surface shaking due to the cord that occurs when the underwater lighting equipment is moved, and it is possible to improve work efficiency during fuel exchange and other maintenance inspections.

By being able to illuminate the entire inside of the reactor during fuel replacement work and other maintenance work during periodic inspections when the reactor is shut down, it is said to improve the workability of remote underwater work and reduce radiation exposure for workers. effective. In addition, because the underwater lighting equipment is fixed, there is no need to move it, there is no problem with the water surface shaking when it is moved, and there is no problem of it interfering with work, improving work efficiency and increasing the operating rate of the nuclear power plant. can be done.
