リング用として使用された試料空ビン等はポリエ
ステル系容器内に集められると共に該ポリエステ
ル容器が数個まとめられて圧縮減容されている。
この放射性廃棄物を内蔵したポリ容器を圧縮減容
する機械として減容機が使用される。この従来の
減容機を第1図に示す。同図に示されるように減
容機1は床面等に設置された円筒状のシリンダ2
を有しており、該シリンダ2の底面は開口してい
る。該シリンダ2の底面開口を塞ぐ底板3が設け
られると共にシリンダ2の側面にはポリ容器が投
入される投入口が穿設されている。シリンダ2の
内側には上下に摺動自在のピストン4が設けられ
ており、該ピストン4はシリンダ2の上端に設け
られたスクリユージヤツキ5にスクリユーネジ6
を介して連結されている。また該シリンダ2には
ブロア、ヒータ等(図示省略)が接続されてお
り、シリンダ2内に投入されたポリ容器を熱風で
加熱できるようになつている。

加熱するためのブロア14及びヒータ15が接続
されている。更に該シリンダ11は支持台24に
載置され、支持されている。該支持台24の内部
にはシリンダ11の下方に減容された被減容物を
取り出す取出空間が形成され該空間内に台車20
が出入する。一方該シリンダ11の底面にはシリ
ンダの底面開口を開閉するシヤツタ16が支持台
24の上端とシリンダ11底面との間にあり、該
シヤツタ16はシリンダ11を貫いて側方にスラ
イドされる。該シヤツタ16はシリンダ底面を閉
じる平面部分と、シリンダ11の内径Dよりやや
大きな直径D′の貫通孔が形成された部分とを有
している。上記支持台24には駆動ネジ18が突
設され、該駆動ネジ18は上記シヤツタ16と螺
合し、シヤツタ16の駆動機構が形成される。該
駆動ネジ18を回転させるとシヤツタ16が移動
してシヤツタ16の平面部分あるいは貫通孔の部
分がシリンダ底面開口を閉じあるいは開く。また
シリンダ11の下部には上記シヤツタ16をシリ
ンダ11の底面に押圧する機構が設けられる。即
ちシヤツタ16の側方下面に係合するようにレバ
ー22が設けられ、該レバー22はその中央部を
ピン23により傾動自在にピン止めされている。
該レバー22の外側端とシリンダの外側部との間
には押圧機21が介装されており、該押圧機21
が伸長するとテコの作用によりレバー22の内側
端はシヤツタ16をシリンダ11底面開口に上向
きに押し付ける。尚シヤツタ16の押圧機構は上
記レバー22を用いる構成に限らず、例えば押圧
機21により直接シヤツタ16を押し上げる構成
としても良い。上記取出空間内に出入する台車2
0は圧縮減容された被減容物17′を落下収納す
るドラム19を備えている。
