Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove a seam of a base part having a dividable stem efficiently and securely by heating and softening the base part while revolving, then working the surface for setting by holding the bed with a pair of upper and lower bar. CONSTITUTION:A stem tumbler is fed to a mounting bed 10 and softened by heating the upper part and the bottom part of the base part with burners 12, 13 while revolving the base part in the direction expressed by the arrow mark. When the surface is softened, the base part is held from above and below by setting bars 14, 17 which revolves intermittently around a guide 22 interposing arms 20, 21. A revolutional force is given to a roll 16 of he setting bars 14, 17 by the revolution of the base part, and a frictional force is generated between the base part and the setting bars due to the difference between the direction of revolution of the base part and the setting bars. As the result, the external surface of the base part in the softened condition is set by the roll 16, and a seam is removed completely and a smooth surface is obtd.

In this case, the ball part 2 is molded with a non-divided mold called a pot-shaped mold, but the stem part 3 is molded with a split mold, so a seam 4 remains at the joint of the molds. As a result,
There is a problem that the appearance is unfavorable, and furthermore, as shown in FIG. There was a problem that it caused damage to etc.

Figure 2 shows the main part of the AA cross section in Figure 1,
As shown in the figure, the correction rod 14 is attached to the base part so that the center axis is parallel to a straight line passing through the rotation center axis of the base part 5 and is spaced a certain distance from the center axis with respect to the direction of rotation. It is provided on the top of 5. Further, as shown in FIG. 3, the straightening rod 14 is composed of a bin 15 and a roll material 16, and the roll material 16 is attached to be rotatable around the bin 15. The roll material 16 is made of a heat-resistant material such as carbon, wood, or metal plated with Ni, Cr, or the like. On the other hand, the platform 5
The correcting rod 17 provided at the lower part of the correcting rod 17 also has the same position and structure as the above-mentioned correcting rod 14.

The stem tumbler 1 is continuously supplied to the mounting table 10,
Rotation is applied at a predetermined speed in synchronization with the rotation of the mounting table 10. At this time, the base portion 5 of the tumbler 1 is heated by the burners 12 and 13 for a certain period of time so that only the surface thereof is softened. The heating time is determined empirically according to the shape of the tumbler, but if the heating time is too long, the entire base may become soft and sag, and if the heat of burners 12 and 13 is too strong, Since there is a risk of air bubbles being generated within the glass base, particularly at the seam 6, the heating conditions are set so that only the surface of the base 5 is softened.

Next, when the base 5 of the tumbler 1 is heated for a predetermined time,
The platform 5 is held between the upper and lower surfaces by the straightening rod 14.15 which is driven to rotate intermittently about the guide 22 via the arm 20.21. In this case, the correction rod 14.
It is a matter of course that 15 is driven in the vertical direction in synchronization with the above-mentioned intermittent drive = 4- so as to clamp the platform 5. Since the straightening rods 14 and 15 are in the position shown in FIG. 2 and have the structure shown in FIG.
As the table part 5 rotates, the correction rod 14, 150 roll material 16
A rotational force is applied to the two, and a frictional force is generated between the base portion 5 and the straightening rod 14, 15 due to the difference in the direction of rotation of the two. As a result, the outer surface of the softened platform 5 is corrected by the roll material 16, and the seams 4 and 6 are completely erased, resulting in a smooth surface.

In the above embodiment, the processing method according to the present invention was explained for one section, but it is possible to process a large number of tumblers at the same time by providing a plurality of sections, and furthermore, it is possible to use a mounting table connected in an endless manner. A tumbler is constructed by sequentially arranging a heating process zone and a straightening process zone.
Of course, it is possible to process continuously.
