Amendment March 25, 1980 The scope of claims for utility model registration is amended as follows.

[Claims for Utility Model Registration] (1) A cassette housing having a cassette insertion space is provided, and the cassette housing is moved to mount a tape cassette containing a magnetic tape at a predetermined recording or playback operation position. In the magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus configured, a detection member protruding from the cassette insertion space is provided in a part of the cassette housing, and the detection member is used to record a magnetic recording system in which a signal different from that recorded on the magnetic tape is recorded. A magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus characterized in that a tape cassette of a different type containing a tape is prevented from being attached to the cassette housing. (2) The detection member is a stopper provided on the top surface of the cassette housing that can move forward and backward, and the stopper is biased by a spring so as to protrude in a direction substantially perpendicular to the insertion direction of the tape cassette. A magnetic recording and reproducing device according to claim 1 of the patent registration claim.

Claims (1)

[Claims for Utility Model Registration] (1) A device is equipped with a cassette housing having a cassette insertion space that communicates with a cassette insertion opening in a device housing, and the cassette housing is moved to insert a tape cassette containing a magnetic tape into a predetermined recording position. A magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus characterized in that a tape cassette of a different type containing a magnetic tape having a different signal recorded therein is prevented from being mounted in the cassette housing. (2) The detection member is a stopper provided on the top surface of the cassette housing that can move forward and backward, and the stopper is biased by a spring so as to protrude in a direction substantially perpendicular to the insertion direction of the tape cassette.
