Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a paper feeding side operator to easily watch a discharged sheet material without need for using any particular original-paper receiver by making a guide member which guides a conveyed sheet and make it U-turn, rotatable and combinedly using the member as a discharging tray after the guide is released. CONSTITUTION:With an ordinary sheet of original paper, a reversing tray 16 is closed, and a sheet of original paper on the top of piled sheet of original paper is delivered by means of an automatic paper feeding device ADF 14, and guided to pass through a fore conveying roller 2 and, after the original paper is read, it is guided to pass through a rear conveying roller 6, reversed by means of a reversing tary 16, and discharged upside down onto a paper discharging tray 8 by means of a paper discharging roller 11. With a sheet of original paper the length of which is shorter than the distance between the rear conveying roller 7 and the paper discharging roller 11, on the other hand, the sheet of original paper can be piled on the reversing tray 16 by opening the reversing tray 16. As with a kind of original paper which may jam at a gap between an inner original-paper guide 9 and the reversing tray 16, and at the paper discharging roller part 11, or a thick sheet of original paper, it can be held by the end part 20 of the reversing tray 16 also by opening the reversing tray 16. Thereby, the operating quality can be improved.

In a document reading device that has a mechanism that sequentially feeds out the stacked documents from the top in the on-document scanning mode, the order in which the documents are ejected is the same as the order in which the documents were fed. As shown in Figure 1, the reversing tray 16 is closed, and the ADF 14 allows one of the loaded documents to be opened.
The top original is sent out, passes through the front conveyance roller 2, is read, passes through the rear conveyance roller 6, is reversed by the reversing tray 16, and is moved by the discharge roller 11 to the discharge tray 8.
The original is ejected face down. In this way, ADF14
By sequentially feeding out the stacked originals from the top, the originals are stacked upside down on the paper discharge tray 8 in the same order as when they were fed.

On the other hand, a document whose length is shorter than the distance between the rear conveyance roller 7 and the discharge roller 11 is not discharged onto the reversing tray 8 as shown in FIG. 4, so the reversing tray 16 is opened as shown in FIG. As a result, the originals are loaded on the reversing tray 16 (
(Fig. 3), the reversing tray 16 as shown in Fig. 2 can also be used for documents that may jam in the gap between the inner document guide 9 and the reversing tray 16, or for thick originals that may jam at the paper ejection roller.
The document is held by the end 20 of the reversing tray by opening it (FIG. 4).

As explained above, a paper conveying device is provided with a reversing tray that makes a U-turn on the paper, and the rotation center is below the reversing tray, and an opening/closing mechanism is attached to the reversing tray so that it can act as a paper ejection tray when opened. By installing 1. When normal originals are being loaded, the reversing tray is closed and the originals are stacked on the output tray in the same order as when they were loaded. In contrast, the reversible tray can be opened and the reversible tray can be used instead of the tray. In other words, documents with a short length can be loaded on the reversing tray 16, and documents with a long length can be guided by the reversing tray 16.
