PURPOSE:To achieve reliably locked condition in a coupler for coupling between a tractor and a trailer, by constructing the coupling device for engaging/disengaging the king pin of trailer such that the retracted condition of a wedge chip under opening of main jaw is maintained through engagement of the wedge chip and a ratch member. CONSTITUTION:When receiving and coupling a king pin, the king pin (not shown) is received under the condition a shown on the drawing then an operating arm 8 is pushed by the king pin to rotate counter-clockwise around a pin 6. る係止保持部を該主ジヨウに形成してなることを特徴と
するから、主ジヨウの開放時における楔片の引き込み状
態の維持を外方から操作し得ない楔片の係止切欠部とラ
ッチ部材の係止突片との係合によって確保し、この引き
込み状態がみだりに解かれる惧がない。一方主シヨウの
閉じ作動においては、その最終位置で主ジヨウの係止保
持部がラッチ部材を作動して、楔片の拘束作用を解き、
この楔片を自動的に前進突出させ、主ジ日つの閉じ状態
をロックするから、主ジヨウのロックを忘れる惧なく、
確実にロック状態を得ることができる。従って安全性の
高い連結装置となし得た利点を有する。
