In addition to adding 0.5 to 5 weight % of Cu and 0.5 to 5 weight % of Cd, the alloy material was constructed with a small amount of W, V, and Mo (0.1 to 2 weight of one of each type). This is to increase the softening temperature during sliding with the brush to suppress stickiness and improve wear resistance. If it is less than 0.1% by weight, the effect cannot be achieved, and if it exceeds 2% by weight, oxides will be generated. The amount of contact increases, the contact resistance increases, and furthermore, it becomes unstable.

A brush was made by cutting two pieces in parallel, welding one end to a composite material with a width of 10 fi, a length of 13 m, and a thickness of 0.2 tsuru, and bending a 2R arc-shaped contact part on the other end. On the other hand, a slip ring with a diameter of 50 m was made by punching out a 0.51 m thick plate made of alloy materials having the compositions shown in the left column of the table below. Therefore, a sliding contact device was made by combining these brushes and slip rings, and a sliding test was conducted under the following test conditions by bringing each brush into contact with the slip ring and rotating the slip ring in forward and reverse directions. When we measured the amount of wear and contact resistance, we obtained the results shown in the right column of the table below.

00g Sliding time Near time As is clear from the table above, the brushes and slip rings of the sliding contact devices of Examples 1 to 3 are different from the brushes and slip rings of the sliding contact devices of Conventional Examples 1 and 2, respectively. It can be seen that the amount of wear is small and the contact resistance is equally low and stable. This is simply due to the addition of at least one of W, V, and Mo to the alloy material constituting the slip ring of the sliding contact devices of Examples 1 to 3, which increases the softening temperature and reduces stickiness during sliding. This is because the wear resistance is improved, and the amount of oxide generated during sliding is balanced with the amount of wear.

Therefore, it can be said to be an epoch-making device that can replace conventional sliding contact devices.
