In industrial vehicles, a counterweight that has a horizontal part and is almost inverted, is placed on the upper surface of the rear end of the vehicle body. A support structure for a counterweight that allows a vertical part of the counterweight to be engaged with and disengaged from a vehicle body by displacing the vertical part of the counterweight between a locking position and a release position as a fulcrum, the vertical part of the counterweight is formed with a split groove with a lower end opening that can be inserted into and removed from above with respect to the locking lever in the released position, and one wall surface of the split groove and the distal end surface of the locking lever intersect with each other. Locking surfaces that engage on the trajectory are formed respectively, and a retainer is provided at the lower rear end surface of the vehicle body to advance and retreat with respect to the locking lever to selectively hold the lever in a locking position and a release position.
