Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the operability of a copying machine by providing a platen cover, on whose upper face an operation part for setting or confirmation of copy conditions is arranged, so that this platen cover is inclined toward an operator. CONSTITUTION:An original reading part 3, namely, a platen glass where an original is placed and illuminated is provided on a copying machine 1, and an open/close platen cover 2 is arranged on this original reading part 3. The platen cover 2 and the upper face of a machine body 1 are so provided that they are inclined downward in the direction of the operator, and thin switches and a display device are incorporated in this platen cover 2 to constitute an operation part 4 where copy conditions such as an original size, a copy size, a reduction/ magnification, the number of copies, etc. are set and confirmed. By this constitution, the operator can execute operations of originals and the machine on the same plane, and the operation part 4 faces the operator, and thus, the operability is improved.

Prior Art In conventional copying machines, the platen cover merely functions as a lid, although it occupies most of the upper surface of the copying machine body. Furthermore, many conventional copying machines are inconvenient to use because the operating section of the machine is located away from the platen cover (i-) where the original is operated.
