In a water heater equipped with a hot water storage tank installed opposite the spout of a communication pipe, a lid 7 having a hot water passage 8 is installed at the opening of the hot water storage tank 3, and a support shaft 11 is attached to the hot water passage 8 of the lid 7. A bell-shaped valve body 1 pivots near the top side on this support shaft 11 and rotates.
