Claims

A flywheel is loosely inserted into a casing fixed to a rotating shaft such as the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine, and viscous fluid such as oil is filled in the gap between the flywheel and the inner wall of the casing to damp torsional vibrations of the rotating shaft. A partition plate connecting the inner and outer peripheral walls of the casing is penetrated through the gap formed by cutting the flywheel at one or more places in the circumferential direction, and both sides of the partition plate and the flywheel are cut. A torsional vibration damping device characterized in that an oil reservoir is formed facing the surface of the oil reservoir, and an oil chamber is provided which is communicated with each of the oil reservoirs through an oil passage having a width smaller than that of the oil reservoir.
