Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain many enclosed tissue pieces simultaneously, by putting the tissue pieces in individual small chambers of an enclosing tray, which has partitioned compartments and is made of resin, enclosing the tissue pieces with paraffin, covering the paraffin by a resin stock, and cooling and hardening the paraffin. CONSTITUTION:An enclosing tray 1 is made of heat resisting resin. Several small chambers 9 (8 chambers are illustrated), which are partitioned by separating walls 7 and 8 in the front and rear and right and left directions, are formed so that the upper part is spread outward. A step part 4 is formed in each of the separating walls 7 and 8. A tissue piece to be checked is put in the small chamber 9, and melted paraffin 12 is put on the tissue piece. A preheated stock 2 is placed on the paraffin 12 in the non-hardened state. When the paraffin 12 is hardened, paraffin is added into a hole 11 in the stock 2 by one half the volume of the hole. When te paraffin is hardened, the resin enclosing tray 1 is twisted, and many enclosed blocks having the stocks 2 can be simultaneously obtained.

Traditionally, paraffin-embedded blocks are made by placing tissue pieces in a simple metal dish with no partitions, arranging them regularly with specimen number tags at appropriate intervals, pouring paraffin into them, and then embedding them after the paraffin has sufficiently hardened. Take out the container,
Separate each embedded tissue piece with a scalpel, shave off the excess paraffin around the tissue piece, and shape the embedded tissue piece. Place a sufficiently heated spatille on the shaped embedded tissue piece and place it in close contact with the script. Place the embedded tissue piece on top and once part of the paraffin has melted, quickly pull out the spathill and remove it.Then, attach the embedded tissue piece to the script, and affix the sample number tag to the spathill. There was a problem in that a complicated paraffin embedding operation was required.

' This invention was made by focusing on such conventional problems, and by using an embedding device made of resin and a script divided into several parts, the script can be wrapped in paraffin (in a state of being It is possible to output a large number of buried blocks at the same time, and
The object of the present invention is to provide a method and apparatus for rationally producing a paraffin-embedded block by completing shaping and pasting to a script at the same time as embedding, and to solve the above-mentioned problems. The gist of this invention is to use an embedding section made of resin with several compartments to prepare paraffin-embedded blocks in the process of preparing pathological tissue specimens, embedding tissue pieces in individual chambers, A paraffin-embedded block manufacturing method that allows multiple embedded tissue pieces with scripts attached to be taken out at the same time by covering each piece with a resin script, leaving it to cool, and twisting the resin embedding part after it hardens. and its equipment.

Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of the embedding part. The embedding part 1 is made of heat-resistant resin and is divided into several sections (eight in this example) by partition walls 7°8 in the front, back, left and right directions. A small chamber 9 is formed. The small chamber 9 is formed to widen upward so that the paraffin-embedded tissue piece can be easily removed, and a stepped portion 4 is formed at the bottom for horizontally and reliably supporting a rootstock to be described later.

FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of a rootstock, and the rootstock 2 is made of resin, has a flange 1o formed on one side, and is a cube having a hole 11 passing through the top and bottom. The hole 11 of the flange 10 is provided with a mesh 6, which prevents the paraffin-embedded tissue piece from separating from the rootstock when the molten paraffin hardens.

FIG. 3 shows a partial side cross-sectional view of the paraffin-embedded block in the state of preparation. The paraffin 12, which has been heated in advance in a paraffin melter, is melted at about 70'C.
is poured into each small chamber 9 of this embedding section 1, and the tissue piece 3 is embedded in each small chamber 9. The rootstock 2 is also warmed in advance and quickly placed in each chamber 9 in which the tissue piece 3 is embedded by placing it upside down before the paraffin hardens. At this time, the specimen number tag 5 can be pasted by placing it on the stepped portion 4 with the side with the letters written facing down.

When the paraffin 12 hardens, it contracts and the amount of paraffin decreases, so as shown in FIG. 3, additional paraffin is poured into each block so that more than half of the hole 11 of the rootstock 2 is grooved. In this state, the paraffin-embedded blocks with the rootstocks 2 attached can be taken out in large numbers at the same time by allowing them to cool and then twisting the resin-made embedding portions 1 after they have hardened. FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the completed paraffin-embedded block.

By changing the size of the embedding part and adjusting the stepped part shown by 4, it is possible to produce blocks of any size and shape. After cooling and hardening, take out the paraffin-embedded block with the auxiliary frame 13 attached from the embedding section, and remove the auxiliary frame 13. However, a large block such as the one shown in FIG. 5 can be easily manufactured by attaching an auxiliary frame.
