Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove pinholes from a protective film and enhance moisture resistance of a thin film thermal head, by a method wherein a printing part of a substrate is projected as compared with the other parts, and an entire surface glaze, a resistor film, a conductor film and a protective film are provided thereon. CONSTITUTION:A green sheet 2 is provided on a green sheet 1 by printing, followed by firing to provide the substrate 3, 4, and a glaze layer 5 is provided on the entire surface thereof. Then, a resistor, a conductor and a protective layer are provided to constitute a thermal head. The printing part may be partially raised by pressing the green sheet, instead of printing. Accordingly, since a smooth substrate free of ruggedness can be obtained by the above method, the protective film can be provided without generating any pinhole, and a thin film thermal head having excellent moisture resistance can be obtained.
