Abstract

PURPOSE:To mprove the positioning accuracy of a tape width direction by constituting a tape guide of a wall member having a surface curved in the tape travelling direction, and a supporting member abutted on one end surface of the tape and regulating the position in the tape width direction. CONSTITUTION:The tape 22 contacts the curved surface 15e of the tape guide 15 and receives force pushing the tape 22 downwards because the wall member 15d constituting the curved surface 15e is inclined inside by a slight angle of about 0.3-4 deg. from the axial direction l of the guide pin 25, so that the lower end of the tape 22 is pressed to the upper surface of the supporting member 15c. Since the tape 22 contacing the curved surface 15e increases the rigidity of the width direction apparently larger than that of the tape material itself by the contact, the end surface of the tape 22 is surely regulated by the upper surface of the supporting member 15c without being curled. Consequently, the positioning accuracy in the tape width direction at the recording and reproducing time are improved.

The tape guide shown in FIG. 1 has a wall member 3 between upper and lower support members 112, and a tape 4 having a magnetic recording surface is
The tape runs while contacting the curved surface 3a of the wall member 3, and the upper and lower ends of the tape abut against the lower surface 1a of the upper support member 1 or the upper surface 2a of the lower support member 2, thereby regulating the position in the width direction. . And the upper and lower support members 1.2
The side parts 1b and 2b protrude from the outer peripheral surface of the wall member 3, and the running tape 4 is first guided onto the curved surface 3a of the wall member 30 with its upper and lower ends regulated between the upper and lower support members 1.2. , after leaving the curved surface 3a, it is sent out while being regulated by the support member 1.2. Of course, the edges 1c and 2c of the support member 1.2 are chamfered in an R-shape or a tapered shape to ensure smooth running of the tape 40.
Damage to the tape 4 is also prevented. Although not shown, the tape 4 is guided to the curved surface of the wall member at approximately the same time that the upper and lower ends are regulated, and the upper and lower ends are released from the regulation at the same time as the tape leaves the curved surface. There are some things.

However, in the conventional example described above, since both the upper end and the lower end of the tape 4 are positionally regulated by the support member 1.2, variations in the dimensions between the support members 1.2 or from the upper end of the tape 4 may occur. Due to variations in the distance (that is, width) to the bottom edge, neither the top nor bottom edge of the tape may come into contact with the support member 1.2, resulting in incomplete regulation of the tape position. Both sides are strongly pressed against the support member 1.2, which causes the tape to run overlapping each other, and the tape curls, resulting in poor head touch.

Further, in the conventional example described above, even at a position away from the curved surface 3a of the wall member 30, the tape 4 is regulated in the width direction by the upper and lower support members 1.2.

In other words, a force in the width direction is applied to the portion of the tape 4 which has almost no rigidity in the width direction because it is not in contact with the curved surface 3a, so the tape 4 tends to bend freely, causing so-called tape curling. In addition to causing this phenomenon, the positioning effect of the support member 1.2 is also reduced. Such a curl phenomenon also occurs when the tape is guided to the curved surface of the wall member at the same time as the upper and lower ends of the tape are restricted.

In addition, since the curved surface 3a of the wall member 3 that makes surface contact with the tape 4 has a relatively short length in the tape running direction, it applies a strong pressing force to only a part of the tape 4, which may cause damage to the tape. Become.

As shown in the figure, with respect to the tape running direction indicated by the arrow,
The length of the wall member 15d is longer than the length of the support member 15c, and a curved surface 15e of the wall member 15d extends further on both sides in the running direction from the chamfered portion 15f of the edge of the support member 15c.
The tape 22 comes into contact with. The wall members 15d are respectively disposed on the upstream side and the downstream side of the tape guide 15 in the tape running direction, and the wall members 15d are disposed on the upstream side and downstream side of the tape guide 15 in the tape running direction.

Now, when recording on the tape 22 or when reproducing a signal recorded from the tape 22, the tape 22 is driven by the tape drive mechanism having the tape winding shaft, the tape supply shaft, the capstan 24, and the pinch roller 23. However, the head 13 is brought into contact with the tape 22. At this time, the tape 22 is moved to the tape guide 15 as described above.
The wall member 15d constituting the curved surface 15e is in contact with the curved surface 15e, and the wall member 15d that forms the curved surface 15e is 0.0.
Since it is slightly inclined inward at a J-angle of about 3 to 4 degrees, it receives a downward force, and the lower end of the tape 22 is pressed against the upper surface of the support member 15c.

Further, in the present embodiment, the length in the longitudinal direction of the curved surface 15e of the wall part 15d, that is, the length of the curved surface 15e with which the tape 22 contacts
By setting the length to the tape width of 3.8 mm or more, the pressing force in the tape width direction received from the support member 15c is dispersed in the tape longitudinal direction, further preventing the tape from curling. Further, the six guide bins 25 on the left and right sides narrow the gap between the head 13 and the tape 22 to improve head touch.

In this case, the tape regulating member 30 is configured such that when the tape stops running,
When sufficient tension is not applied to the tape, such as during fast forwarding or rewinding, the tape 22 may be accidentally pulled into the tape guide 1.
This is to prevent deviation from the 5th grade, and records,
During normal running such as playback, the end surface of the tape does not come into contact with the tape regulating member 30.
