In order to improve the surface hardness of products and semi-finished products that tend to get scratched on the surface during transportation and handling, such as molded products made of synthetic resins such as AS resin and polyethylene terephthalate, A method is used in which a coating composition containing an ultraviolet curable synthetic resin is applied to the surface of a product, followed by irradiation with ultraviolet rays to impart a high degree of surface hardness to the object to be coated. Although the method has the advantage that it can be completed by combining a simple process of applying a coating agent, which is a coating composition, and a subsequent ultraviolet ray irradiation process, the surface hardness of the resulting coating film is different from that of the coating composition. Depending on the type of synthetic resin in the product, the surface hardness may only be around 2H, and even if the type of synthetic resin used in the coating composition is selected, the surface hardness will be around 4H at most, and under extreme conditions. The reality is that it is not possible to completely prevent scratches and the like during handling operations.

By providing an ultraviolet curable coating composition as described in the claims, the present invention provides a coating process of a coating agent, which is a coating composition, and subsequent irradiation with ultraviolet rays, in the same way as conventional ultraviolet curable coating compositions. For example, in the case of an ultraviolet curable coating composition that does not contain hollow powder carbon, an ultraviolet curable resin that can only produce a coating film with a surface hardness of about 2H can be used. As for the coating composition, an ultraviolet curable coating composition capable of forming a coating film having a hardness of 6H or more has been provided.

The hollow powder carbon contained as an essential component in the UV-curable coating composition of the present invention functions to improve the surface hardness of the coating film formed by the UV-curable coating composition of the present invention. It is something. Since this hollow powder carbon contained in the ultraviolet curable coating composition of the present invention has an extremely low specific gravity compared to other components in the composition, coatings containing hollow powder carbon When the coating composition is applied to the surface of the object to be coated to form a coating layer, hollow powder carbon is applied to the surface of the coating layer before the coach ink layer is cured by ultraviolet irradiation treatment. As a result, a coating film in which hard hollow powder carbon is deposited is formed on the surface of the cured coating film, and this hollow powder carbon in the coating film plays a role similar to sand in sandpaper. As a result, a coating film with extremely high surface hardness can be obtained. The hollow powder carbon used in the ultraviolet curable coating composition of the present invention has a particle size of 1 to 150 μm.

The ultraviolet curable coating composition of the present invention having the above structure is applied as a coating agent to the surface of an object to be coated, and the coated surface is subjected to ultraviolet irradiation treatment to provide a coating with a high degree of surface hardness. After applying the coating agent, which is an ultraviolet curable coating composition, the applied surface is usually irradiated with ultraviolet rays at a rate of 200 to 450.
This is performed using a high-pressure mercury lamp, a metal halide lamp, or the like having a wavelength of about nm.

By preparing a coating composition containing about 5 to 50 parts by weight of hollow powder carbon having an average particle wall thickness of 1 to 2 μm based on 100 parts by weight of the ultraviolet curable synthetic resin in the coating composition, Similar to conventional ultraviolet curable coating compositions, the simple process of applying the coating agent of the coating composition and the subsequent ultraviolet irradiation process allows for ultraviolet curing that does not contain hollow powder carbon. In the case of mold coating compositions, it is possible to form a coating film with a surface hardness of 6H or higher even in coating compositions using ultraviolet curable resins that can only produce a coating film with a surface hardness of 2■ (hardness of 6H or higher). It has the function and effect of being able to do the following.
