Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate trouble of resending operation of a resent document at the time of resending due to abnormality of communication by providing a storing device that stores image data of an original of plural pages and a device that stores number of sent pages. CONSTITUTION:A document 1 of plural pages is let out successively one sheet by one sheet. Image data read by an image sensor 5 are binary coded by a data controlling section 6, compressed by a main controlling section 7 and sent to a picture memory 8. Then, the image data are stored by a file controlling section 11 in a memory section 10, and at the same time, sent out from the picture memory 8 to a circuit by a circuit controlling section 9. When abnormality of communication on the circuit occurs during transmission, recording of a receiving equipment is interrupted. However, reading is made uninterruptedly in the transmitting equipment, and the image data are stored in the storing section 10. After the abnormality of communication is restored, image data from the beginning of the page in which abnormality of communication occurred out of image data stored in the storing section 10 are sent out to the circuit.

(b) Background of the Technology Recently, facsimile communication has been put into practical use for transmitting documents, figures, etc. to distant locations using communication lines. As shown in Figure 1, in facsimile communication, transmitting and receiving devices between users are connected by a communication line, and document communication is carried out at 17'. The image data of the IJl image is transmitted as an electrical signal, and the receiving side records it on, for example, thermal paper to reproduce a document. There is also a method that uses a telephone line for the line.

With such a configuration and function, when transmitting document 1, the operator communicates with the designated destination, transfers document 1 to the device, and then presses the send button (not shown). Then, the receiving device (not shown) becomes ready for reception, and the transmitted document is sequentially fed out by a feeding mechanism (not shown), transported by the drive of the feeding roller R1, and read by the image sensor force 5 to be converted into image data. The converted data, which is binarized by the data control section 7, is sent to the main control section 7, compressed, and sent to the image memory 8, and sent to the line by the line control section 9.
