て行ない溶接金属流出止部5を形成するか、第3図に示
すようにスタートタブ6を添入してその上部から自動溶
接を行なうか、いずれかの方法を採用している。しかし
ながら、第2図に示す流出止部5を形成する方法は、手
溶接作業が必要であるのみならず自動溶接用摺動当銅が
流出止部と密着するようこの表面をグラインダー仕上げ
する等の作業も必要となる。また、第3図に示すスター
トタブ6を添入する方法は、溶接完了後にスタートタブ
6を除去する場合、第4図に示すように、溶接スタート
部の溶接金属7とスタートタブ6とを舟形にガウジング
しなければならないとともにガウジングの技量が不十分
であるとガウジング時に残存タブ8が開先内で溶着して
除去しにくくな91強いてはスタートタブ6全体をガウ
ジング除去するため横向継手4の開先にガウジングによ

金属と前記スタートピースとをガウジング除去すること
