However, such liquid crystal compositions have the disadvantage that their conductivity is highly dependent on temperature. Therefore, if an attempt is made to extend the operating temperature range of the liquid crystal composition to a lower temperature side, the electrical conductivity at room temperature becomes higher than necessary, resulting in a disadvantage that power consumption increases. The present invention has been made in view of the above points, and has been made for the purpose of obtaining a liquid crystal composition having a temperature dependence of electrical conductivity of 4 cm.

Liquid crystal compositions to which conventionally commonly used additives (for example, quaternary ammonium salts) have been added have a large temperature dependence of conductivity, and therefore additives have been added to match the lower limit of the operating temperature range of liquid crystal display devices. In this case, there was a drawback that the conductivity in the high temperature region was too high than necessary.
