Claims

[Scope of utility model registration request]

A flat panel having a fluorescent surface adhered to its inner surface is sealed with a frit to the front end face of a funnel having a metal layer adhered to its inner surface, and has a beam index, an x-tube type color cathode ray tube. A metal frame is disposed around the effective screen on the outer surface of the flat panel of the color cathode ray tube, and a transparent panel is opposed to the flat panel through the metal frame at a distance defined by the metal frame. A liquid-tight space is formed between the flat panel and the transparent panel, a transparent liquid cooling medium is sealed in the liquid-tight space, and the transparent panel and the transparent panel are completely sealed from the inner circumference of the metal frame to the entire circumference thereof. A protruding part that is immersed in the liquid cooling medium and comes into direct contact with the liquid cooling medium is provided integrally with the metal frame at an intermediate part between the flat panel and the protruding part, and the protruding part allows light to be drawn from between the periphery of the fluorescent surface into the tube. A cathode ray tube device that is shielded to prevent light from leaking out and being observed from the front of the cathode ray tube.
