In the chlor-alkali electrolysis industry, the ratio of electricity costs to operating costs has increased in recent years, and in order to reduce this, it is desirable to reduce the electrolysis voltage by shortening the distance between the electrodes as much as possible in existing electrolyzers. ing. Therefore, for example, in a granol diaphragm electrolytic cell that is constructed by combining negative and positive electrode plates with a U-shaped cross section in a finger shape with a diaphragm in between, the gap between the opposing electrode plates of at least one electrode is expanded, and the It is necessary to further shorten the distance between the electrodes. Then, the bent ends of the electrode plates having a U-shaped cross section are cut off, and the electrodes are processed to enlarge the gap between the opposing electrode plates, and the electrodes are assembled into an electrolytic cell with a closer distance between the electrode plates. that time,
If the enlarged electrode is directly inserted between the other electrodes, the asbestos corneal membrane covering the cathode surface will come into contact with the electrode plate and be damaged by rubbing, making it difficult to assemble the electrolytic cell by inserting the electrodes. becomes difficult. For this reason, conventionally, a gap retaining member such as asbestos thread or metal wire, which is stretched, melted, or decomposed and cut under the conditions of the electrode chamber, is provided at the cut end of the counter electrode plate to reduce the gap between the counter electrode plates. A method has been proposed in which the electrode plate is restored by inserting and assembling, and then stretching, melting, or disassembling the spacing member using an electrolytic solution (Tokukan Sho 57-32).
391, Tokubuta No. 56-83891). but,
These methods have the problem that it takes a considerable amount of time for the spacing member to melt and for the electrode plate to recover, making the recovery uncertain.

In a diaphragm type electrolytic cell, a large number of electrode plates 3 of the same shape are usually arranged in parallel on the power supply 2 to form a finger shape, and one electrode is covered with an asbestos diaphragm to serve as a cathode (not shown). The other finger-shaped anodes are inserted into each other, and as shown in FIG. An actual electrolytic cell is constructed by sequentially stacking a large number of such unit electrolytic cells between electrode chambers at both ends. Note that an elastic member 6 such as a leaf spring may be provided inside the electrode 1 as necessary, so that the distance between the electrode 1 and the other electrode can be maintained in close contact. The present invention is characterized in that a stopper 7 and a wire fitting 8 that engages with the stopper 7 are provided at the cut end of the metal electrode 1 so as to be removable.

As shown in an enlarged view in FIG. 2, the stopper 7 and the wire 8 are a pair having a length that is strong enough to reduce the distance between the electrode plates at the cut end of the counter electrode plate 3. It is usually composed of a loop-like filament stopper 7 and a wire fitting 8 made of a flexible, elastic metal wire or the like that penetrates and engages with the loop-like thread stopper 7, but any device having the above-mentioned functions according to the present invention may be used. The shape and material may be used. For example, as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, a set of titanium metal member fasteners 7 having an L-shaped cross section is fixed to the elastic member 6 or its mounting member 9, etc., and a metal wire such as SUS wire is used. 8 may be hooked onto this as shown in FIG. 4 for engagement. The material of the stopper 7 may be an inorganic or organic linear body or a metal member, but a material with good sliding properties such as nylon thread is preferable. Further, the required number of fasteners 7 can be provided as appropriate depending on the size of the electrode 1. In the electrode 1 of the present invention configured as described above, the wire fitting 8 is engaged with the stopper 7 provided near the cut end of the electrode 1, so that the distance between the opposing electrode plates is adjusted to the first level.
As shown in FIG. 2 or 4, one end of the wire 8 is left outside the electrolytic cell, and as shown in FIG. The electrode 1 is inserted into the other electrode until a slight gap is left so that it can be pulled out, and then the wire fitting 8 is pulled out to join the adjacent electrolytic cell frames 4 to complete the assembly of the electrolytic cell.

At this time, the electrode plate spacing is completely restored as shown in FIG. 5, and in this state, the wire 8 is moved by the gap distance D (FIG. 3) for pulling out, but that distance is very small. Therefore, there is little chance that the corneal membrane will come into contact with the electrode and be damaged by rubbing. In the present invention, since the metal electrode for electrolysis is configured as described above, an electrolytic cell can be assembled easily and reliably via the B high film, and it is possible to operate with a closer electrode plate distance. did it.
