Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain display of a light color screen with the luminescent layer receiving strong stimulus by allowing a chrominance picture image displayed with a light having a predetermined wavelength other than a visual light from three cathode ray tubes to stimulate selectively the fluorescent film for the three primary colors constituting the luminance layer of the screen via a light shield plate. CONSTITUTION:When a picture extracting only the red component in the three primary colors by an ultraviolet ray luminance fluorescent screen from a cathode ray tube 3 generating the 1st chrominance picture is displayed by an ultraviolet ray, only a part of the red component picture light R due to the ultraviolet ray passing through the holes 12 is irradiated to a fluorescent film 10R as shown in the arrows R1, R2, the fluorescent film 10R receives strong stimulus and is radiated in red strongly. Similarly, the green component picture G and the blue component picture light B due to the ultraviolet ray projected from the cathode ray tubes 4, 5 to the screen 1 are also passed through the holes 12 provided to the light shield plate 11 and are irradiated selectively to the fluorescent films 10G, 10B and the fluorescent films 10G, 10B are stimulated strongly thereby radiating strongly green and blue colors.

However, since the projection television device with the above configuration synthesizes three primary color images by simply magnifying and irradiating the screen, the brightness of the display screen is determined by the magnified value and the display on the cathode ray tube. This depends on the brightness of the screen, and generally the displayed image on the screen will be quite ugly. For this reason, the above-mentioned conventional projection television apparatus has a problem in that the indoor lighting must be dimmed when viewing.

Reference numerals 6 to 8 denote optical systems for projecting each color component image displayed on the cathode ray tubes 3 to 5, respectively, onto the screen 1. here,
An enlarged cross-section of the screen 1 is shown in FIG. 3. In the figure, 9 is a substrate, and 10 is a luminescent layer coated on the surface of this substrate 9, which is a fluorescent film 10R210G that emits red, edge, and positive light, which constitute the three primary colors of light.
, 10B are sequentially and repeatedly applied nine times in the horizontal direction in a striped pattern. Reference numeral 11 denotes a light shielding plate that is disposed opposite to the light emission N10 at a predetermined distance. This light-shielding plate 11 has each fluorescent film 10R, 10G, and I constituting the light-emitting layer 10.
Visible light emitted from the OB is transmitted, and the cathode ray tube 3~
It is made of a material that blocks color component image lights, G, and B having predetermined wavelengths other than visible light projected from 5. The light shielding plate 11 also includes cathode rays 3.
A large number of holes 12 are provided for dividing and supplying each color component image projected from .about.5 to the fluorescent films 10R, IOG, and IOB so as not to overlap each other. In this FIG. 3, 几, G, B indicate the optical system 6,
7.8 shows each color component image light projected onto the screen 1 through 7.8.

In the projection television device configured in this way,
When the push tube 3 that generates the first color component image displays an image in which only the red component out of the three primary colors is displayed using an ultraviolet light emitting fluorescent surface, the first color component image produced by the ultraviolet light is displayed. The component images are projected onto the screen 1 by the optical system 6 through an optical path indicated by R. in this case,
Since the screen l is provided with a light shielding plate 11 on the front side of the light emitting layer 10, only a part of the red component image light R due to ultraviolet light that has passed through the hole 12 provided in this light shielding plate 11 is reflected by the arrow R8, The fluorescent film 310R is irradiated as shown by R2. As a result, the phosphor film 10R is strongly stimulated by the irradiation of the red component image light R1 due to ultraviolet light, and emits light strongly.
Its emitted light color is red. Similarly, green component image light G and blue component image light B of ultraviolet light projected from cathode ray tubes 4 and 5 onto screen 1 via lens systems 7 and 8 are also transmitted through holes 12 provided in light shielding plate 11. Corresponding fluorescent film
By selectively irradiating OG and IOB, the fluorescent films 10G and JOB are strongly stimulated and emit strong green and blue light. In this way, the fluorescent film 10R, IOG,
Since the substrate 9 is made of an opaque material or a light reflecting material, all of the red, green, and blue visible light emitted from the IOB travels along the light shielding plate 11. As mentioned above, this light shielding plate 11 transmits only visible light! V! /J'J(), the red, green, and blue visible lights emitted from the valley phosphor films 10R, LOG, and IOB pass through the light plate 11. Therefore,
As shown in FIG.
The light emission from OG and 10B can be seen, and thereby the color image projected brightly on the screen 1 can be viewed.

10G and IOB may be provided, and in this case, the mixture of emitted light colors becomes better, so a good color image can be obtained. Furthermore, by surrounding each fluorescent film with a light-absorbing material such as carbon, the contrast of the display screen can be increased. Furthermore, it goes without saying that the fluorescent surfaces of the cathode ray tubes 3 to 5 may be fluorescent surfaces that emit infrared rays.

As explained above, the projection television device with the above configuration stimulates the fluorescent film provided on the screen with the projected image light and obtains a clear image by re-emitting light, so compared to the conventional one, the projection television device has the same structure. This often results in a much brighter projected screen.
