In general, in the roller fixing device described above, at least one of the pair of pressure rollers, often the side on which the toner image is attached, is used in order to make the device lighter and more compact, as well as to stabilize fixing and increase speed. The roller is heated by a heat source installed inside or outside the roller. That is, the most popular type is one in which the toner image is fixed by heating and pressure. In addition, toner tends to be easily offset from the support, especially on the side of the roller where the toner image is attached.
Further, since the offset toner tends to wrap around the support, an anti-offset liquid (hereinafter referred to as oil) such as silicone oil is applied to the surface. However, if too much oil is applied, the support becomes contaminated with oil, which makes it difficult to write on the support later with pencil or ink, and the amount of oil consumed increases, making it uneconomical. It was. Therefore, many means have been employed in the past to uniformly and thinly apply oil to the surface of the roller. As such an oil application means,
The devices shown in FIGS. 1 to 4 are known.

Compared to the oil applying means shown in FIG. 4, the oil applying means shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 has the advantage that oil can be applied to the roller 2 indefinitely as long as the oil tank 1 is replenished with oil. However, this has the problem of making the device complicated and large, and in practice, dirt such as toner and paper dust adheres to the oil application section 6, causing clogging, which makes it difficult to compare. Since the oil is not applied uniformly in a short period of time, the above advantages are rarely achieved. In this respect, the oil applying means shown in FIG. 4 is designed so that the oil applying member 9 can be fixed to the holding frame 10 by rollers so that it can be easily replaced on the premise that the oil applying member 9 runs out of oil and becomes dirty. The mounting provided on the device frame upper lid 11 of the device is configured so that it can be attached by inserting it into the rail 12 from the side, so the device is simple and compact, and the oil applying member 9 can be attached to the holding frame 10 as needed. By exchanging them, there is an advantage that uniform oil application can be achieved at all times. However, even in the oil applying means shown in Fig. 4, even though the oil applying member 9 is still sufficiently impregnated with oil (5), it is necessary to replace it due to contamination. There are problems in that the dirt accumulated on the roller 9 remains on the surface of the roller 2 together with the oil during replacement, contaminating the support, and the oil application member 9 becomes dirty early after replacement. There is also the problem that the oil application member 9 cannot be easily reused.

The cleaning member 13 shown in FIG. 5, FIG. 7, and FIG.
The one shown in the figure is a roller-shaped roller having a cleaning gear made of a 7+3B elt, sponge, etc. on the outer periphery of a roller core 13a that is pivotally supported on the end face of a holding frame 10. Cleaning layer 1 of rod-shaped cleaning member 13 or roller-shaped cleaning member 13
3b is particularly made of felt made of aromatic polyamide fibers (
For example, Nomex felt (manufactured by DuPont) is preferably used from the viewpoint of heat resistance, wipeability, durability, etc., and it is preferable to use it after being impregnated with an appropriate amount of oil in order to further improve the wipeability. Leaning member 1 like this
3 is provided on the holding frame 10 so that the surface of the roller 2 is cleaned before the oil application member 9 applies oil, so that the oil application function of the oil application member 9 is not impaired by dirt. Furthermore, the accumulation of dirt on the cleaning member 13 does not impair the cleaning function to the extent that the accumulation of dirt on the oil application section 6 and the oil application member 9 of the oil application means impairs the oil application function.
It is possible to uniformly apply oil to the roller 2 until the oil held by the oil applying member 9 is almost exhausted, and the effect that the replacement period of the holding frame 10 is extended is obtained. However, the present invention is not limited to the example in which the cleaning member 13 is provided on the holding frame 10.

The oil applying member 9 shown in FIGS. 5 to 7 and 11 is rod-shaped like the one in FIG.
The one shown in FIG. 12 is a roller-shaped cleaning member 1.
Similar to 3, it is roller-shaped. That is, the oil applying member 9 shown in FIG. 12 has an oil-impregnated layer 9b made of oil-impregnated felt, sponge, etc. on the outer periphery of a roller core 9a that is pivotally supported on the end face of the holding frame 10. Instead of this roller-shaped oil application member 9, one as shown in FIG. 13 may also be used. Oil applying member 9 in Fig. 13
In place of the roller core 9a of the oil application member 90 shown in FIG. 12, a drum-shaped member is provided with an oil supply port on the end face, can store oil inside, and has an oil seepage hole in the peripheral wall. The roller core 9a' is used, and 9b is an oil-impregnated layer as in FIG. 12. Note that if an oil exudation layer having a higher oil passage resistance than the internal oil-impregnated member is further provided on the surface of the rod-shaped or roller-shaped oil applying member 90 that contacts the roller 2, the internal oil impregnation will be prevented. Even if the member is impregnated with a large amount of oil, or even if the contact pressure of the oil applying member 9 against the roller 2 is increased, the effect of applying oil to the roller 2 more stably and uniformly in a thin layer can be obtained. It will be done. However, it goes without saying that the present invention is not limited thereto.
