Abstract

PURPOSE:To distinguish between an FM broadcast signal and an output signal from an FM transmitter by amplitude-modulating a pilot signal and detecting the result by a PLL circuit and a synchronous detector. CONSTITUTION:A main signal is obtained from an adder 1 and a sub-signal is obtained by a subtractor 2, a subcarrier generator 3 and a double-side band modulator 4 in a transmitter. Further, a frequency of the subcarrier is frequency-divided to 1/2 by a frequency divider 5 to form the pilot signal and an oscillated output of a variable frequency oscillator 9 is amplitude-modulated. The modulated pilot signal is added with the main/sub-signal at an adder 6 and transmitted while being frequency-modulated. Reception/demodulation is performed by an FM demodulator 12 and a multiplex demodulator 13 in a receiver. An output of the PLL circuit 14 in synchronization with the pilot signal in an output of the FM demodulator 12 and a composite signal are multiplied, the result is detected by the synchronous detector 15 and an output of the variable frequency oscillator 9 is demodulated.
