(Prior Art) Among the above-mentioned copying machines and other devices, many are known that form images using toner, for example, by electrophotography. A toner image deposited on a recording material by transfer from the surface of an electrophotographic photoreceptor is generally fixed on the recording material through a fixing process. As a fixing device for fixing such a toner image, a device that heats and pressurizes the toner using a heat roller has been known, but recently, a fixing device that heats and pressurizes the toner using a heat roller has recently been developed. There is also a so-called flash fixing device that emits light from a straight tube-shaped flash lamp and uses the light to melt and fix toner.

In the above-mentioned flash fixing device, in order to more effectively utilize the light emitted by the flash lamp, which is arranged approximately parallel to the recording material, the flash lamp is placed opposite the recording material over almost its entire length. A reflector is provided surrounding the lamp from the side and reflecting the light from the lamp onto the surface of the recording material.

As is well known, the light output of a straight tube-shaped flash lamp as described above is low at the end of the tube.1 As shown in FIG. The toner fixation effect gradually decreases toward the outside at the side edges of the recording material. Therefore, there is a risk that the toner fixation effect will deteriorate at the side edges of the recording material. To eliminate this disadvantage, it is necessary to use a flash that is sufficiently longer than the entire width of the recording material. Although a lamp may be used, such a flash lamp unnecessarily increases the size of a copying machine or the like in which a flash fixing device is installed, and is uneconomical because it consumes a large amount of power.

Therefore, as shown in FIG. 2, side reflectors 1a and 1b are provided at both ends of the reflector 1.
completely surrounds the flash lamp 2 from all sides, reflects the light traveling outward (approximately in the longitudinal direction) from the flash lamp 2 inward, and receives the light at the side end of the recording material 3 near the tube end of the flash lamp 2. A flash fixing device that increases the amount of light has also been proposed. However, when the side reflectors 1a and 1b as described above are provided on the reflector 1, the flow of air that forcibly cools the flash lamp 2 is blocked, the cooling effect is reduced, and the temperature around the lamp increases.
This will shorten the lamp life.

(Object of the Invention) The present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned circumstances, and it is possible to prevent a decrease in the amount of light received at the edge of the recording material without impairing the cooling effect of the flash lamp, and thereby to maintain a constant adhesion of toner. It is an object of the present invention to provide a flash fixing device that is uniformly smooth.

is attached. This recording paper 11 is conveyed in the six directions of arrows in the figure by a paper conveyance device (not shown), and a flash fixing device 10 is disposed at a position facing the surface 11a of this recording paper 11. This flash fixing device 10 includes a straight tube-shaped flash lamp 13 that is arranged approximately parallel to the surface 11a of the recording paper and set slightly longer than the entire width of the recording paper 11, and a straight tube-shaped flash lamp 13 that is arranged approximately parallel to the surface 11a of the recording paper 11. A reflector 1 having a cross section with a cross section arranged to surround the recording paper 11 from the opposite side.
4, and a glass 15 is attached to the opening in the front part (lower part in the figure) of this reflector 14. The flash lamp 13 emits light that melts the toner 12 and fixes it on the recording paper 11, and the reflector 14 polishes a metal plate such as aluminum to efficiently direct the light to the surface of the recording paper 11. It is formed so as to reflect toward the side 11a. Therefore, when the flash lamp 13 is turned on while the recording paper 11 is being conveyed in front of the flash fixing device 10 (lower in the figure), the light emitted by the flash lamp 13 is strongly irradiated onto the surface 11a of the recording paper 11. , the toner 12 on this surface 11a is melted and the recording paper 1 is

6 is fixed. In order to reflect light in the above-mentioned direction, this reflecting member 16 is made of metal such as aluminum and is formed into a shape as shown in FIG. Polished to perfection. Further, as shown in FIG. 4, the back plate 1 of the reflector 14 is
On the inner surface of both ends of the recording paper 11, similarly to the reflecting member 16, there are reflecting members 1 that reflect the light traveling outward from the flash lamp 13 toward the side end 11b of the recording paper 11.
7 is fixed. In order to reflect light in the above-mentioned direction, this reflecting member 17 is made of metal such as aluminum and is formed into a shape as shown in FIG. 7, for example, and is polished in the same manner as the reflecting member 16. ing.

As mentioned above, the light output decreases at the tube end 13a of the flash lamp 13, so the amount of light received at the side end 11b of the recording paper 11 near the tube end 13a is originally the same as that of the recording paper 1.
1. It is smaller than the central part. However, in the present flash fixing device 10, the reflecting member 16 as described above is
.. 77, the light is concentrated on the side end portion 11b,
The amount of light received at this side end 11b is increased by J'31. Therefore, the recording paper 11 has a center portion and a side edge portion 11b.
Since the recording paper 11 is uniformly irradiated with fixing light throughout the recording paper 11, the side edge portion 11b of the recording paper 11 has no deterioration in toner fixation, and a uniform and good toner fixation effect can be obtained.

Next, another embodiment of the present invention shown in FIG. 9 will be described. In the flash fixing device 20 of this embodiment, a reflecting member 17 is provided on the inner surface of the back plate 14b of the reflector 14, as in the previous embodiment, but furthermore, on the inner surface of the back plate 14b on the center side of the reflecting members 17. , a reflecting member 21 is attached. By this reflecting member 21, light from a portion near the center of the flash lamp 13 is reflected toward the side edge portion 1'1b of the recording paper 11. As shown in FIG. 10, the portion near the center of the recording paper 11 receives a light amount higher than the minimum level necessary for normal toner fixation.
