Abstract

PURPOSE:To process and sort a batch of many magnetic cards which differ in handling kind by providing a magnetic stripe data reading and writing mechanism, an optical character reading mechanism, stack mechanism, and a stack switching mechanism. CONSTITUTION:Unprocessed magnetic cards 2 stacked in a magnetic card hopper 1 are sent by a feed roller 3 as shown by a reference number 4. A print or entered characters on each card 2 are read through a photodetecting element 11 and recognized. Normally recognized cards and erroneously recognized cards move forth as shown by a reference print 13 and then data is written on a magnetic stripe by a magnetic head 15 dedicated to writing. The written data is read by a magnetic head 17 dedicated to reading to check whether the data is written normally or not. Data is read out of a magnetic card which is only read by a head 17 and checked. Those cards 2 are stored in magnetic card stackers S1-Sn according to respective handling sections and error sections.

ように磁気カードのスタック毎に設けられた切換バネ全
制御することにより取扱かい種別に応じたスタックに磁
気カードを収容することができる。
