In this case, as shown in FIG. 2 (5), a thermal head in which, for example, 16 heating elements 10 are arranged in a vertical row in correspondence with dots on the surface of a cylindrical platen 40 via a plastic ribbon 2 and paper 5. 1, the ribbon ink is melted by heat generation and printed in one column according to the character pattern, and one character is printed by shifting one dot in 16 columns in the direction perpendicular to the paper surface. When one line of printing is completed in this way, the paper on the platen 4 is fed by one line, and the next line is printed. The problem in this case is that while the platen 4 has a curvature, the lower heating surface of the thermal head 1 is flat, so as shown in the same figure (cL), strong contact is made at the center. On the other hand, since the contact is weak and creates a gap 5 at the front and back in the paper feeding direction, and the heat dissipation characteristics of the thermal head 1 are better at the edges, the print pattern at the center as shown in FIG. This causes uneven shading at both ends, and when characters are printed with this, there are unclear areas at the top and bottom, which is a drawback.

。(3) Purpose of the Invention The purpose of the present invention is that when printing is performed by pressing a flat thermal head composed of a plurality of heating elements onto a cylindrical platen surface, uneven shading occurs at the center and both outer sides of the thermal head. It is an object of the present invention to provide a thermal printer that avoids the need for

According to this gap, the resistance value of the heating element is increased at the center and decreased toward both outer sides.
