Abstract

PURPOSE:To drive all dots on a printhead of a dot type serial printer with a less number of circuits than the number of dots by providing a driving circuit which is adapted to drive one dot each on the right and left sides with one circuit. CONSTITUTION:Transistors 1 and 5 are turned ON and current of a coil 3 flows. When the transistor 1 is turned OFF ahead, current flows through the transistor 5 and a diode 7 from the coil 3 and moreover, when the transistor 5 is turned OFF, energy of the coil is consumed through the diodes 6 and 7 therefrom 3. Then the transistors 2 and 5 on the left side are turned ON and current flows through a coil 4. When the transistor 2 is turned OFF ahead, current flows through the transistor 5 and a diode 8 from the coil 4 and when the transistor 5 is turned OFF, energy of the coil is consumed through the diodes 6 and 8 from the coil 4. In this manner, one dot each on the right and left side of a dot wire is driven with one circuit thereby reducing the number of circuits by a half the number of dot wires.

(Structure of the Invention) According to the present invention, in a dot-type serial printer having dots in which dot wires are arranged in two vertical rows on the right and left sides in a staggered manner, one dot on the right side and one dot on the left side can be driven by one circuit. By providing a drive circuit that provides a drive circuit, a print head drive path for a dot type serial printer with f% characteristics can be obtained. (Embodiment) Next, an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. FIG. 2 is a circuit diagram showing one embodiment of the present invention. Here, the case where the coil 3 and the coil 4 are excited will be explained. In FIG. 2, this embodiment has two vertical rows of dots on the right side and the left side, one coil 3 of the moving coils, one coil 4 of the coils on the left (one coil 4 of the coils driving itll), Transistors (drive circuits) 1 and 2 that excite the right and left sides respectively, transistors (drive circuits) 5 that fully excite both the right and left sides, a diode 6 for absorbing coil backlash, and a flywheel circuit. diodes 7.8.

First, in the X embodiment, as shown in the time chart of Fig. 3,
Transistors 1 and 5 are turned on, and current flows through coil 3. If transistor 1 turns off first, current flows from coil 3 to transistor 5. It flows through diode 7 and transistor 5 dissipates the off-coil energy. Next, transistors 2 and 5 for left 1u1 are turned on, and coil 4
A current flows through. If transistor 2 is turned off first, current will flow from coil 4 to transistor 5. The current flows through the diode 8, and when the transistor 5 is turned off, the current flows from the coil 4 to the diodes 6 and 8, and the right side and the left side are alternately energized by +jg(, By doing this, one transistor S drives two dots.

(Effects of the Invention) As explained above, the present invention uses one circuit to drive one dot and one dot on each of the left and right sides of dot wires arranged in a staggered pattern in two vertical rows, thereby reducing the number of circuits to half the number of dot wires. This has the effect of significantly reducing the number of parts.
