Abstract

PURPOSE:To make maintenance in a cylinder head part ever so easy, by setting up a radiator fan at a side face of the opposite side to the cylinder head, in case of a vertical engine which sets up a crankshaft in a vertical direction. CONSTITUTION:A vertical engine has a crankshaft 6 directed in a vertical direction and supports it free of rotation at a boundary part between a cylinder block 3 and a crank chamber case 4 in an engine body 1. In this case, at a rear surface of the crank chamber case 4, namely, a side face of the opposite side to a cylinder head 2, a cooling water pump 9 is attached to the almost central part. And, a radiator fan 11 and a fan pulley 12 at the front side rotating as one body are attached to a tip part of this pump 9 on the same axis as a driving shaft of the pump 9. A radiator 13 is set up in the front of the radiator fan 11, whereby cooling water inside the radiator 13 is forcibly circulated by the cooling water pump 9 via pipe lines 14-16, etc.

The torsion angle of (19) becomes large, and the durability of (19) is impaired. To prevent this, ■
In this embodiment, the V-belt (19) is connected to the hydraulic oil pump pulley (21) located further away than the crankshaft pulley (8). By wrapping it around the shaft, the torsion angle is reduced and durability is increased. in this case,
It is also possible to wrap it around the dynamo pulley (23) instead of the hydraulic oil pump pulley (21).

Effects As described above, according to the present invention, in a vertical engine in which the crankshaft is arranged vertically, the radiator fan is arranged on the side (111 side) opposite to the cylinder throat. Therefore, this cylinder head side is not covered by the radiator fan and radiator, which has the effect of making maintenance of the cylinder and throat part easier. In this case, the cooling water pump is also connected to this cylinder and the side opposite to the throat. The effect will be greater if the radiator fan is placed on the opposite side from the cylinder/nod, so the airflow by the fan is directed from the crankcase case to the cylinder/nod. It flows towards the sides in the longitudinal direction of the engine, which has the effect of efficiently cooling the entire engine.

As shown in this embodiment, if this radiator fan is driven from the crankshaft via a V-belt, it is advantageous in terms of efficiency and cost compared to an electric fan. If the V-belt is driven via a pulley located farther from the crankshaft, the torsion angle of the V-belt will be smaller and its durability will be increased.
