Abstract

PURPOSE:A rubbery elastomer composition for chatter-free wiper blades, prepared by adding a surfactant and a highly water-absorptive resin to a rubbery elastomer composition. CONSTITUTION:A surfactant having a hydrophilic group to one end of the molecule and an oleophilic group at another end (e.g., alkyl phosphate or polyoxyethlene/polyoxypropylene ether) and a highly water-absorptive resin which can absorb water in an amount 100-1,000 times as large as its own weight but which is not soluble in water (e.g., polyvinyl alcohol resin or polyacrylate resin) are added to a rubber to a rubber formulation prepared by, e.g., compounding natural rubber with a vulcanizing agent, a vulcanization accelerator, and other adjuvants. A wiper made of the above obtained rubbery elastomer composition shows such an extremely high affinity for water that the wiper blade scarcely chatters during operation.

(Prior art and its problems) Wiper chatter, which occurs when the wiper blade vibrates when the wiper is operated, not only makes an unpleasant sound, but also interferes with the normal wiping function of the wiper blade, leaving behind wipes and impairing the forward visibility. This may cause harmful effects such as worsening the condition. This wiper tremor is generally more likely to occur during light rain or when the glass is drying than when there is a lot of rain, and it is also noticeable when wax applied to the roof washes off due to rain and adheres to the windshield glass. appears in

In order to prevent this wiper chatter, glass cleaning agents containing dissolved surfactants are commercially available, but they have drawbacks such as requiring a lot of effort for wiping and that the effect is temporary.

On the other hand, regarding wiper blade materials, high-quality natural rubber or neoprene rubber compounds have been put into practical use in order to improve wiper wiping performance, but a blade composition with excellent wiper chatter prevention properties has not yet been obtained. do not have.

The present inventors focused on the fact that wiper chatter tends to occur when there is a small amount of water between the blade material and the shield glass sliding surface, or when there is a spilled wax component,
Compositions for wiper blades (see Figure 1) with excellent chatter prevention properties are created by combining surfactants and super-absorbent resins with various rubber compound compositions or rubber-like elastomer compounds such as thermoplastic elastomers. It is something that reveals something.

In other words, the surfactant added to the rubber-like elastic body dissolves from the blade surface and wipes off the wax component adhering to the shield glass, and the super absorbent resin absorbs water and swells, making the blade surface sticky like fish scales. This improves water retention, which prevents the water film from breaking between the shield glass and the wiper blade, and exhibits excellent anti-chattering properties.

The superabsorbent resin used in the present invention is a starch type such as an acrylonitrile grafted hydrolyzate or an acrylic acid grafted product, a carboxymethyl cellulose, a cellulose type graft polymer, or a polyvinyl/l/fluoric acid type or a polyacrylate. Materials that can absorb 100 to 1000 times their own weight in water and do not dissolve in water by themselves may be used, such as soil water retention agents and liquid absorbing sanitary materials. It is commonly used for purposes such as improving agents and industrial dehydrating agents.

Various rubber compound compositions that serve as the base material of the present invention include natural rubber or synthetic rubber such as diene-based, olefin-based, urethane-based, etc., to which vulcanizing agents, anti-aging agents, reinforcing agents, plasticizers, fillers, etc. are added. Examples of thermoplastic elastomers include styrene-diene block copolymers, thermoplastic polyurethanes, polyolefin elastomers, and polyester elastomers, but the base material of the present invention is particularly limited to these. It is not necessary to use a rubber-like elastic body as long as it has the strength, elasticity, and hardness required for wiper blade materials.

(Effects of the Invention) As described above, the rubber-like elastomer composition of the present invention has an extremely high affinity with water, has a stable and low coefficient of friction with glass in the presence of a small amount of water, and reduces chattering of wiper blades. It is extremely useful because it does not cause generation and does not impair the moldability and strength properties of ordinary rubbers and elastomers.
