Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a natural atmosphere of conference by giving an attenuation proportional to the number of all subscribers to a signal level of silence when all subscribers are not detected as voice signals to reduce the amount of noise. CONSTITUTION:Voice detection circuits 3-1, 3-2...3-n detect the presence of a voice signal subject to digital conversion of each subscriber and an all subscriber silence detecting circuit 5 detects the silence state of all subscribers through the reception of the output. As a result, when the voice signal of all the subscribers is silent, the signal level of the silent state is attenuated by the amount proportional to all the subscribers. When the circuits 3-1...3-n detect at least >=a subscriber's voice signal, only the voice signal of the subscribers is passed as the voicelevel and the signal level of the other subscribers in the silent state is blocked by a noise control circuit 7. An addition distributing circuit 9 generates a sum signal of the voice signals of the own subscriber and distributes it to each subscriber from the voice signals of each subscriber outputted at the circuit 7.

(Prior art) A conference telephone transmits to one subscriber in a remote location an audio sum signal obtained by adding and synthesizing audio signals of other channels excluding the audio signal of the own channel via a transmission line. This is realized by distributing the information to the receiving section of each subscriber's channel.

In this case, if you simply add the audio signals of other channels except your own channel, for example, when all channels are silent, the noise level heard on each channel during no calls will be approximately 6 times higher. Therefore, it is difficult to say that this satisfies the transmission quality above a certain level required for transmission lines.

Figure 1 shows the relationship between the number of receivers (n) and the amount of ABN (transmission quality standard single tone intelligibility) deterioration (an). The switch 4W-4W indicates the characteristics of a TC ladder four-wire switch and a phantom four-wire switch, respectively.

For example, when a conference call is carried out using current public telephone lines, as shown in Figure 1, if the subscriber is over 5 Å, the deterioration of the single tone intelligibility (AEN) of the transmission quality standard is 49 dB or more, and the normal call quality is exceeds the standard and is found to be undesirable.

(Object of the Invention) In order to eliminate these drawbacks, it is an object of the present invention to provide a conference call addition and distribution control system that can ensure call quality comparable to that of a normal telephone.

In the noise control circuit 7, for example, the content of the attenuation amount for the number of subscribers is stored in advance using the output 6 of the all-subscriber no-call detection circuit 5 that detects the no-call state of all subscribers and the input signal 11 of the total number of subscribers. The contents of the ROM table are, for example, as shown in Figure 1, since the total noise power during no calls is proportional to six times the no-call background noise power of each channel, and the total number of subscribers is set. Any device may be used as long as it inputs the number of subscribers as an address signal of the ROM and generates an output signal 1249 times as large as the address signal.

This inputs the voice signals of each subscriber output from the noise control circuit 7 to the addition/distribution circuit 9, and output signals 4-+ to 4-n from the voice detection circuits 3-1 to 3-n. When the audio signal can be detected as an audio signal (in a sound state), the selector 14 selects the audio signal in the sound state from the delay circuits 2-1 to 2-n. (Effects) As explained above, the present invention adds up all subscribers participating in a conference when it can be detected as an audio signal; Since an amount of attenuation proportional to the number of subscribers is given to the signal level when no calls are made, the background noise in the conference room can be heard without interruption of the signal even when all the subscribers are not talking. Therefore, in the conventional method of adding the audio signals of other channels excluding the own channel, the noise level when all subscribers are not talking is approximately n times that of one channel, but with the present invention, it is equivalent to one channel. This has the advantage of reducing the amount of noise and creating a natural meeting atmosphere that does not cause discomfort.
