Generally, the floor of an aircraft is provided with a channel-like track having a plurality of parallel longitudinal slots along its length. These rails have seats or cargo mounting rhombuses arranged along the rails in any desired juxtaposition and at a distance of a predetermined distance. These mounting plates and their associated rails must generally be able to support a load of 1800 k9 vertically and 1600 k9 horizontally. One commercially available attachment device that meets these requirements includes a housing carrying a vertically movable pin and an operating handle at the front and a pair of screw-headed studs at the rear. . A stud with a screw head slides under the retaining lip of the rail, and the pin descends into the wide hole in the rail to prevent forward movement. A transverse hole is provided in the housing centrally between the studs for attaching the load. When the attachment device is attached to a seat, it is usually used only on the rear legs of the seat, so the forces acting on the attachment device in the broken state are usually forward and upward. These forces are resisted by the pin and the two studs, in which case most of the normal force is resisted by the rear stud' as the attachment attempts to rotate around the forward edge of the forward-mounted pin. . The front stud absorbs very little load until the track and rear stud begin to deform. When the loading system begins to fail, the aft stud is generally pulled off the rail and all vertical loads are transferred to the forward stud, which eventually also pulls away from the rail. Although the above-described attachment device is strong enough to be used on each of the two legs of a double-row seat, it may not be possible to use the same two-row seat as a double-row seat with one seat extending into the aisle between the seats.
3 with 3 seats that must be carried on individual rails
For example, it is not strong enough to support the seat. In lieu of the enormous expense involved in purchasing new aircraft, there is strong consideration for increasing the number of seats as a means of reducing fuel consumption per passenger mile. 8 consisting of 4 rows of multiple seats
In wide-space aircraft of the type that currently uses 9 side-by-side seating configurations, the number of passengers accommodated can be increased by using three-, four-, and two-seat configurations to create nine side-by-side seating configurations. Can be increased. However, the additional load given by using two-leg, three-seater seats for two-legged, double-row seats, or a pair of three-legged, four-seat seats for two-legged, double-row seats is limited to the distance between the front and rear legs of each seat. Requires that they must be approximately 56 arcs apart, not 4&ne. Generally seats only 81-9
Given that they are separated by a pitch of 1 or less, this narrowness of the seat space in front of the seats cannot fully accommodate the rear legs, which extend further back 10 togs. Alternatively, the seat rails in an aircraft could be replaced with more weight-bearing rails, but this would increase operating costs and reduce cargo capacity. One of the objects of the invention is to provide an aircraft track mounting system having a significantly greater load-carrying capacity than conventional mounting systems, so as to be able to support increased loads without increasing the fore/aft leg spacing. There is something to do.

Another object of the invention is to provide a rail mounting device that distributes the load relatively evenly over the length of the engaging portion of the rail. Another object of the invention is to provide a rail mounting system which, although slightly heavier than, for example, a conventional mounting system, provides a net weight savings by eliminating the use of much heavier leg members. It is on offer.

Four sets of load-receiving ears such that alternating ear members rotate about various support pins and pairs of ear members spaced five arcs apart rotate about an axis located therebetween. By forming the member on three pivot pins, this attachment device is able to distribute the load relatively evenly over the length of the rail. Therefore, this mounting device can withstand a load of 3175 k9 upwards and 21 gruel k9 forwards when applied to the rail. If such a load is applied over only 2.5 or 5 skins of the rail, the rail will fail. As the load increases, the ears tend to assume positions on circles of larger radius because they uniformly deform the rail into a similar shape. By using the track attachment system of the present invention in place of conventional attachment systems, three seats can be supported by only two rearwardly extending chests, or four seats can be supported by only three rearwardly extending chests; All of this can be done without increasing the leg spacing of either seat front to back.

By using this improved mounting device, the Douglas D
The special side-by-side 8-seat cabin of the C-1 topplane was arranged in 9 rows of 3 seats on each side of the cabin, 2 rows of 3 seats on the pond side, and 1 row of 4 seats in the middle, resulting in 227 seats.
This was a change from the previous 202 seats, which used two seats in total. This expanded capacity version uses 25 3-seats, 22 4-seats and 32 2-seats. Each 3 seats would require one of the improved track attachments disclosed herein, and each 4 passenger seat would require 2 of the improved rail attachments, all of which would require 6 improved rail attachments. The weight added to the aircraft by
However, as the weight of 22 legs, which is approximately 22.7k9, was reduced from the four seats, a weight saving of 10.9k9 was achieved. In addition to the weight savings gained by eliminating one rear leg from each of the four seats, passenger leg room was significantly increased by missing one leg. The present invention will be explained below with reference to the drawings.

Track attachment device 10 includes a housing 18, preferably made of cast aluminum. The upper central portion of the housing 18 has a transverse hole 22 therethrough. Hole 22 is at the point where a load can be attached to the pick-up device, such as by a pin (not shown) passing through the hole. When the mounting device is used to support the rear legs of a seat, both sides of the legs extend generally in the direction shown by the arrows in FIG. 9 so as to overlie the holes 22 and are attached to the mounting device, for example by bolts. When the attachment device 10 is used to attach cargo to the floor of an aircraft, the cargo is attached to the hole 22 while attached to the attachment device using straps or cables secured to crepis-type members (not shown). be able to. A wear-resistant mounting plate 24, such as nylon, may be attached to the bottom of the housing to facilitate sliding of the mounting device over the upper track surface 26 of the floor track 12 during assembly and disassembly operations. When the attachment device 10 is used to individually attach a seat, the front and rear legs (not shown) of the seat are fitted with spacing members 28 attached to the attachment device by e.g. studs 29.
It is generally combined and tightened using . The spacing element 28 securely clamps the rear leg and the fixable attachment device 10 to the front leg, thereby making it unnecessary to provide a fixable attachment device to the front leg. A novel rail attachment device 10 that allows a relatively even load distribution over the entire length of the engaged rail is attached to the outer support plate 3.

The downwardly curved extension of this deformed mounting plate further provides additional retention force so that a protrusion such as protrusion 46 can be attached to the track when the protrusion and the attachment device are pulled upwardly by a load applied during fracture, for example. prevent it from being pulled away from the sides. Spacing member 2
8 also has lower bent twills which cover both sides of the rail attachment device 12 and provide the same retaining function as described above. FIG. 9 is exaggerated to clarify the relationship between the track attachment device 10 and the floor track 12 under maximum load conditions when this load is acting in the direction indicated by the arrows.
