Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent effectively the abrasion of pads which faces in interposing a magnetic head across a magnetic recording medium between them for a long period by forming the pad of a porous material and impregnating the pad with a lubricant. CONSTITUTION:The pad 3 is formed of the porous material with relatively high hardness, e.g. sintered metal or ''Graphoil'' and oilless ceramics, porous alumina, etc., and its contact surface for the magnetic recording medium 1 is polished. Then, the pad 3 is impregnated with the lubricant in a pressure reduced atmosphere. The pad which is formed of the porous material and impregnated with the lubricant is put opposite the magnetic head 2 across the magnetic recording medium 1 and brought into contact with the magnetic recording medium 1, and the lubricant oozes from the surface of the pad 3 and is supplied to the contact surface for the magnetic recording medium 1. Consequently, the frictional resistance between the surface of the magnetic recording medium 1 and the surface of the pad 3 is decreased and the life of the pad 3 is prolonged.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Technical Field of the Invention] The present invention relates to a magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus, and more particularly to a magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus that performs recording/reproducing by bringing a magnetic head into contact with a magnetic recording medium.

[Technical ugliness of the invention and its problems] In contact-type magnetic recording and reproducing devices such as audio tape recorders, video tape recorders, and floppy magnetic disk devices that have been put to practical use, magnetic recording media are contained in an organic binder. Ferromagnetic powder (e.g. Y-Fe2o3
A magnetic recording medium is used in which a ferromagnetic material (iron oxide, etc.) is dispersed and coated on a plastic film. When using such a so-called coated magnetic recording medium,
Since the material of the medium is soft, there is little problem with abrasion of the magnetic head and pads.

However, it is not preferable that a non-magnetic substance such as a binder be mixed into the magnetic layer because it reduces the maximum residual magnetic flux density of the magnetic layer. For this reason, attempts have been made to increase the filling rate of ferromagnetic powder or to use magnetic powder that inherently has high residual magnetization to increase recording and reproducing sensitivity, but these methods have limitations. there were.

By the way, in conventional contact-type magnetic recording and reproducing devices, the recording wavelength is generally set to about 5 μm, so the gap between the magnetic head and the magnetic recording medium is 0.2 to 0.3 μm.
It is sufficient if it is as small as m. Securing this level of gap can be easily achieved by providing a pad made of a soft material such as felt at a position where the magnetic head and the magnetic recording medium face each other at a distance of /v.

On the other hand, in the case of the above-mentioned continuous magnetic recording medium made of a thin metal film, if the recording wavelength is set to 1 μm or less in order to fully utilize its capabilities, the gap between the magnetic head and the magnetic recording medium can be further reduced by about an order of magnitude. There is a need to. As a means of securing such a very small gap,
It is known to use high hardness materials such as ceramics, metals, and Teflon-based resins for pads. However, when a pad made of a highly hard material is used, the pad surface may be significantly worn due to sliding between the magnetic recording medium and the pad.
The problem is the occurrence of vibration called the chatter phenomenon. In order to solve this problem, lubricant is applied to the medium to reduce the friction between the medium and the pad surface, but this method is effective when the gap between the magnetic recording medium and the magnetic head is made smaller. If the lubricant on the magnetic recording medium is subjected to large surface pressure at the point of contact with the pad, the lubricant may be removed. In addition, applying lubricant to the magnetic recording medium complicates the manufacturing process of the medium and costs 8 yen! The disadvantage is that the production cost increases by the amount of spring agent.

[Object of the Invention] An object of the present invention is to effectively prevent pad wear over a long period of time when the gap between a magnetic recording medium and a magnetic head is reduced by using a high-hardness material for the pad, and to further improve the performance of the magnetic recording medium. An object of the present invention is to provide a magnetic recording/reproducing device which can simplify the manufacturing process and reduce the production cost.

[Summary of the Invention] A magnetic recording/reproducing device according to the present invention includes a pad made of a porous material that faces a magnetic head that contacts the magnetic recording medium to perform recording/reproducing, with the magnetic recording medium sandwiched therebetween; The pad is characterized by being impregnated with lubricant.

[Effects of the Invention] According to the present invention, by supplying lubricant from the pad to the contact portion between the magnetic recording medium and the pad, the lubricant is supplied from the pad to the contact portion between the continuous magnetic recording medium and the pad made of a hard material. This not only solves problems such as pad surface wear and chatter, but also because the pad itself is made of porous material and is impregnated with lubricant, so the contact surface between the pad and the medium is subject to large surface pressure. Even when the blood pressure is low, the lubricant is not removed, but rather more lubricant is supplied than when the blood pressure is low. Therefore, it becomes possible to apply a larger surface pressure, and it becomes easier to reduce the gap between the medium and the magnetic head. This makes the configuration optimal for high-density recording using continuous magnetic recording media.

Furthermore, since there is no need to apply lubricant on the magnetic recording medium, the process for manufacturing the medium is simplified accordingly, contributing to a reduction in production costs.

8 Place pad 3 impregnated with lubricant onto magnetic head 2 as shown in the figure.
When the lubricant oozes from the surface of the bar 6-rad 3 and is supplied to the contact surface with the magnetic recording medium 1, the lubricant oozes out from the surface of the bar 3 and is supplied to the contact surface with the magnetic recording medium 1. . As a result, the frictional resistance between the magnetic recording medium 1 surface and the pad 3 surface can be lowered, and the life of the pad 3 can be improved. In this case, medium 1
Even if the pad receives a large surface pressure and presses strongly against the 3 sides of the pad,
Since the lubricant always oozes out from the pad 3, depletion of the lubricant can be prevented. Note that when the lubricant is depleted, the initial effect can be regained by replenishing the pad 3 with lubricant or replacing the entire pad with a new one.

As described above, according to the present invention, when a magnetic head is brought into contact with a continuous magnetic recording medium made of a thin metal film to perform recording/reproduction, there are problems associated with using a pad made of a highly hard material. This has the advantage of being able to extend the life of the pad and reduce the cost of the magnetic recording medium.

Note that the present invention is not limited to the above embodiments, and for example, the pad may be made of any material as long as it has a higher hardness than Fel 1 to etc. and is porous, and is not limited to the above-mentioned examples. . Further, the present invention can be applied to a device in which magnetic heads are arranged on both sides of a magnetic recording medium, such as a double-sided recording type flexible disk device.
In that case, the pads may also serve as other members such as head sliders provided on both sides of each magnetic head chip.
