Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a thermoplastic resin molding from which perfume does not ooze out and which can retain fragrance over a long period of time and can be used as a molded article through which water is circulated, containing, as a perfume component, powdery perfume wherein perfume is adsorbed by a specified inorg. carrier. CONSTITUTION:A fragrant molding is obtd. by incorporating powdery perfume composed of perfume adsorbed on magnesium metasilicate aluminate as a perfume component in a thermoplastic resin molding (e.g. PE). Magnesium metasilicate aluminate is superior in oil absorption or oil retention to conventional inorg. carriers. Hence, an oily perfume does not ooze out from the powdery perfune and the powdery perfume can be easily blended with the resin. The resulting molding can retain fragrance over a long period of time without causing the oozing of the perfume. Further, it is insoluble in water so that it can be used as a molded article through which water is circulated. Magnesium metasilicate aluminate having an average particle size of 10-40mm. is preferred and used in the form of porous fine powder.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a fragrance-emitting molded article that can emit fragrance for a long period of time and does not cause fragrance to ooze out.

In the past, various attempts have been made to blend fragrances with resin in order to impart aromas to resin molded objects, but since fragrances are liquid, it is not possible to directly blend fragrances with resin, and currently various methods are being used. The carrier and the fragrance are mixed together in the form of a powdered fragrance and blended with the resin.

There are two types of carriers for powdered fragrances: inorganic carriers and organic carriers. Porous silicic acid (S
iO2) fine powders are used, such as Toxil (hydrated silicic acid manufactured by Tokuyama Soda) and Yaaerosil (anhydrous silicic acid manufactured by Degussa). Cyclodextrin is used as the organic carrier, and the inclusion action of cyclodextrin is used to clathrate and hold the fragrance.

However, with powdered fragrances in which fragrances are adsorbed onto conventional inorganic carriers such as the porous silicic acid, a large amount of fragrance oozes out during mixing with resin or molding, resulting in poor mold processability. Fragrance oozes out from the aromatic molded body,
The duration of the fragrance is also short. On the other hand, powdered fragrances using cyclodextrin cannot be used in molded products that come into contact with water because cyclodextrin itself is water-soluble, and its range of use is limited because it is expensive.

Magnesium aluminate metasilicate used in the present invention has superior oil absorption and oil retention properties compared to other conventional inorganic carriers, and therefore, there is no oozing of oily fragrance from the powdered fragrance obtained, and it is compatible with resin. It is easy to blend, and the fragrance can be maintained for a long time without oozing out of the resulting molded product. Moreover, since it does not dissolve in water, it can be used for molded products around water. Magnesium metasilicate aluminate is used in the form of a porous fine powder. The average particle size is preferably about 10 to 40 mμ. A specific example is the one commercially available from Fuji Chemical Industry under the trade name Neusilin.

As a method for adsorbing a fragrance to the magnesium aluminate metasilicate, a conventional method may be used, such as sprinkling a liquid fragrance onto particles of magnesium aluminate metasilicate and causing the particles to adsorb the fragrance. When the perfume is adsorbed, the particles become aggregate particles with an average particle diameter of about 1 to 2 microns. In addition, if magnesium aluminate metasilicate to which no fragrance has been adsorbed is added to the aggregated particles, and particles to which no fragrance has been adsorbed are attached around the aggregated particles, it is possible to store the particles to which fragrance has been adsorbed. The effect is that liquid fragrances do not ooze out. When the liquid fragrance does not ooze out, it is easy to blend with the resin, and the liquid fragrance does not ooze out onto the surface of the resulting molded product.

The ratio of magnesium aluminate metasilicate/adsorbed fragrance is preferably in the range of about 70/50 to 50/50 by weight. When the ratio is less than 70/50, it becomes bulky and difficult to mix with resin. If it exceeds 50,150, the powder itself will have increased wettability, making it difficult to mix with the resin.

The preferred addition amount of magnesium aluminate metasilicate with a fragrance adsorbed to 100 parts (parts by weight, the same applies hereinafter) of the thermoplastic resin depends on the adsorbed amount of the fragrance, but the weight ratio of magnesium aluminate metasilicate/fragrance is 50. / 5
In the case of 0, it is 1 to 10 parts, usually about 6 parts. If the amount added is less than 1 part, it will not be possible to obtain a sufficient aroma;
Moreover, if the amount exceeds 10 parts, problems arise in that the fragrance becomes too strong and the molded product is adversely affected.
