Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the period of time required for completing copying on the first sheet, by driving a feeding means immediately after throwing in a power source or before supplying a recording-starting signal to thereby bring a recording paper into a stand-by condition at a recording-starting position. CONSTITUTION:Immediately after throwing in the power source or in other similar occasion, a paper letting-out roller 4, a paper-feeding roller 5 and the like are driven under the control by a micro-processor to feed a recording paper 3 from a paper-supplying tray 2. When the leading end of the paper 3 is detected by a sensor 15 for detecting the leading end, driving of the rollers 4, 5 is stopped, whereby the paper 3 is brought into the stand-by condition at the recording-starting position for a thermal head 9. Accordingly, recording on the paper 3 is stated simultaneously with the supply of the recording-starting signal, and the period of time required for completing copying on the first sheet is minimized.

The reason for this is that the recording paper must first be conveyed from the paper tray to the recording unit in response to the recording start signal, and this requires paper conveyance time. That is,
The time required for recording is the actual recording time plus the above-mentioned paper transport time.

(Overview) In order to achieve the above object, the present invention transports the recording paper close to the recording head immediately after power is turned on, or a scheduled time earlier than when the first recording start signal is input. It is distinctive in that it is structured as follows.
