Abstract

PURPOSE:To reinforce bending strength against an external force by fixing a clamp-binding member having a smaller inside diameter than the outside diameter of a jacket, onto the outside periphery of the jacket of an optical fiber cable, and also in the vicinity of the terminal part. CONSTITUTION:A linear clamp-binding member 5 having a smaller inside diameter than the outside diameter of a jacket is fixed so as to eat into a cable jacket, on the outside periphery of the jacket of an optical fiber cable 2. By drawing locally the jacket by the clamp-binding member 5 and reducing the outside periphery, a gap between a tension resistance member, namely, a tension member 3 and an optical fiber protective tube 6 becomes small in this part, and it is prevented that an adhesive agent is permeated to the cable side. The optical fiber cable 2 clamp-bound by the clamp-binding member 5 is fixed by an adhesive agent 4 to terminal metallic fittings 1, and the adhesive agent 4 is not permeated to the rear from a clamping position of this clamp-binding member.

In the terminal structure of a conventional optical connector, as shown in FIG. 1, the outer jacket of the optical fiber cable 2 is first removed, and then the tension member 3. It has a structure in which an optical fiber retention tube 6 and an optical fiber 7 are adhered to a terminal fitting 1 with an adhesive 4.

However, in an optical connector having such a terminal structure, the liquid adhesive 4 before hardening penetrates deeply into the inside of the optical fiber cable 2 by capillary action (through the tension member 3 portion) and then hardens. When a bending and pulling force is applied to the fiber cord at the rear of the connector, a sharp bend occurs between the hard part where the adhesive has penetrated and the soft part where no adhesive has penetrated. This has the drawback of causing damage to the optical fiber and leading to breakage.

An object of the present invention is to provide an optical connector terminal structure that eliminates the above-mentioned drawbacks and has enhanced bending strength against external forces.

The present invention provides an optical connector terminal structure in which an optical fiber cable including an optical fiber, a tension reinforcing member, and a jacket is adhesively fixed to a terminal fitting. A binding member having an inner diameter smaller than the outer diameter of the jacket is fixed near the outer jacket.

In this figure, a linear binding member 5 having an inner diameter smaller than the outer diameter of the outer sheath is fixed onto the outer periphery of the outer sheath of the optical fiber cable 2 so as to be inserted into the cable outer sheath. As shown in FIG. 2, by narrowing down the outer circumference by tightening the entire outer sheath locally with the binding member 5, the tension member, that is, the tension member 3 and the optical fiber protection tube 6 are connected to each other in this area.
This reduces the gap between the two cables and prevents the adhesive from penetrating into the cable side. FIG. 3 shows the above bonding member 5.
Finally, the exposed fiber optic cable 2 is attached to the terminal fitting I.
It shows a state where it is fixed with K adhesive 4. The adhesive 4 does not penetrate beyond the position 1u when the tightening member is tightened.

It is composed of a wide plate-shaped annular member. In addition, in the example shown in Fig. 5, coiled spring materials are used for the binding members 5'' and I~, and both have an inner diameter that sufficiently tightens the optical fiber cable 2 and eliminates the gap between the internal tension member and the protective tube. Use the one.

The binding member 5 fixed to the optical fiber cable jacket in this manner has the effect of preventing the adhesive 4 from flowing into the rear part of the fiber cable through the tension reinforcing member of the tension member 3 made of extremely thin wire. .
