Abstract

PURPOSE:To optionally use one of fuels having different properties, and as well to make the work load and fuel mileage substantially uniform even if any kind of fuel is selected and used, by providing a plurality of independent tanks storing therein various kinds of fuels, and a change-over means for selectively feeding one of fuels from the tanks to an internal-combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:There are provided an ethanol fuel tank 1 and a gasoline fuel tank 2 from which conduits 3, 4 are led to a change-over device 5 that is controlled to feed one of fuels mentioned above to a carburettor 7 through a manifold 6. Even in the carburettor 7 nozzles therein may be changed over another change-over device 8 so that fuel jetted from the selected nozzle is fed into an engine 9. Thereby in such an area that either one of two kinds of fuels alone may be available, the drive operation may be made without hindrance.

In recent years, due to high oil prices or instability in securing oil resources, various studies have been conducted on vehicles and internal combustion engines that use various alternative fuels. As a result, internal combustion engines or vehicles that can selectively use a plurality of fuels with different properties have been developed, and a carburetor for an internal combustion engine that can selectively use different types of fuel is disclosed in Japanese Patent Application No. 59, filed on the same date by the same applicant. -= and Japanese Patent Application No. 1983-.

Gasol made by mixing gasoline with 00% alcohol and around 10% alcohol is commercially available. However, in some regions, the types of fuel that can be sold may be limited, and in such situations it becomes necessary to add tanks for various types of fuel to the internal combustion engine or vehicle. . This situation is becoming more prevalent in other countries, especially during the transition period immediately after the emergence of new fuels to replace oil. Since the types of fuels are limited and it is conceivable that different types of fuels will continue to be used side by side even after step 1, development of a multi-fuel internal combustion engine equipped with multiple tanks so that any of the different types of fuel can be used freely. Yes, you will need a vehicle.

Various internal combustion engines that use different types of fuel have been devised and invented. It simply uses starting fuel and regular fuel separately, and the tank volume for starting fuel is generally relatively small, while the tank volume for regular fuel is usually the same size. . Therefore, it has not been possible to use an internal combustion engine or a vehicle using each of the different types of fuel for a certain period of time or for a certain distance.

Therefore, the main purpose of the present invention is to be able to freely use any of a plurality of different types of fuel, and to determine the amount of work or travel that can be obtained from that fuel, regardless of the type of fuel used. An object of the present invention is to provide an internal combustion engine and a vehicle whose distances are approximately the same.

In particular, when driving in areas where the types of fuel that can be purchased are limited, vehicles can be driven by refueling with any type of fuel, and even more than one. By looking at the overall amount remaining in the fuel tank, it is possible to easily and accurately determine the possible mileage with the remaining fuel.

An internal combustion engine with such a configuration or a vehicle equipped with such an internal combustion engine can be operated without problems even in areas where only one of the two types of fuel can be purchased. Furthermore, even if fuel is stored in both tanks at different ratios, the amount of work that can be done or the distance traveled can be easily determined. For example, if methanol is stored at 30% of its capacity in tank 1 and gasoline is stored at 20% of its capacity in tank 2, 30% of its capacity is stored in tank 2. % + 20% - 50% workload - 7 - Or it can be easily determined that the distance traveled is possible.
