An iron core around which a coil is wound, an abbreviated yoke consisting of a vertical piece and a horizontal piece, which form a magnetic path with the iron core and whose vertical piece is fixed to the iron core, and a yoke with a swing at the end of the yoke. The tip of the armature is disposed opposite to the suction surface of the iron core, and the coil is energized so that the tip of the armature is suctioned to the suction surface of the iron core. In an electromagnetic relay in which the contacts are opened and closed via contact springs, pivot pieces are provided to protrude from both sides of the distal end of the horizontal piece of the yoke, and the pivot pieces protrude from both sides from the upper end of the armature. A projection piece to be placed on the upper surface is formed, a recess is formed on the upper surface of the pivot piece, and a fitting part is formed on the lower surface of the projection piece to fit into the recess and allow the armature to swing freely.
