As shown in No. 5-65741, the motor that rotates the adjustment rod and the gear train that transmits the rotation of this motor to the adjustment rod are disposed outside the cylinder of the shock absorber, which is disadvantageous in terms of space. Furthermore, after these are mounted on the vehicle body, mud, rainwater, etc. adhere to them while the vehicle is running, reducing their durability, and there are also problems in that noise generated when the motor is driven is transmitted into the vehicle interior.

During compression, part of the oil in the oil chamber s2 passes through the oil hole 20 of the piston 7, pushes up the disc valve 21 with its pressure, and flows into the oil chamber sl, and the other oil flows into the oil chamber s1. body 10
One of the orifices 15-1, 15-2 and 15-3 passes through the corresponding oil hole 14 to the oil chamber S.
1. Also, during extension, a part of the hydraulic oil in the oil chamber St passes through the oil hole 22 of the piston 7, pushes down the disc valve 23, and flows into the oil chamber S2, and the other oil flows into the oil chamber S2 through the orifice 15-1. It flows into the oil chamber S2 through any one of .15-2 and 15-3. Here, the adjuster 17 is rotated to open the orifices 15-1 and 15.

The motor 29 is driven by a motor power source 32, and the motor power source 32 is turned on and off by signals from a comparator 33, and the comparator 33 receives signals from the angle setting device 34 and the controller 30. is input. That is, the predetermined orifice 15-L15-2.1 is set by the angle setting device 34.
5-3 is set to match the elongated hole 16 of the adjuster 17, the signal is input to the comparator 33. on the other hand,
The controller 30 detects the rotation angle of the adjusting condo 190 and inputs the signal to the comparator 33. When the respective input signals do not match, that is, when the rotation angle of the adjustment condo 190 set by the angle setting device 34 and the actual rotation angle do not match, a drive signal is output to the motor power supply 32, and the respective input signals are The motor 29 is driven until the input signals match. When the motor 29 stops, the predetermined orifices 15-1, 15-2, and 15-3 overlap the elongated holes 16, and the desired damping force is adjusted.
