An opening 3a provided in the support substrate 3 with the detection part 1a on the closed end 12 side of the bottomed cylindrical oxygen detection element 1 made of a solid electrolyte with an internal electrode layer 2a and an external electrode layer 2b formed on the inner and outer surfaces.
The oxygen sensor is made to protrude into the exhaust gas from the opening 3a, is mechanically fixed by an elastic piece 31, 31 protruding from the inner edge of the opening 3a, and is electrically connected to the external electrode layer 2b.
