基板２，３の両内面に表示用透明電極６，７を形成した
表示用液晶セル１と、該表示用液晶セル１に重ね合わさ
れて配置されかつツイストネマチック型液晶１１を挾ん
で対向する透明基板３゜９の両内面全面にポジネガ切換
用透明電極１２゜１３を形成したポジネガ切換用液晶セ
ル８と、前記２つの液晶セル１，８を挾んでその外側に
配置された２枚の直線偏光板１４．１５とからなる液晶
表示器を備え、該液晶表示器の前記表示用液晶セル１に
よる表示内容が所定の値を越えたときに前記ポジネガ切
換用液晶セル８を間欠的に駆動する制御回路２３．２４
