Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent expansion of a magnetic flux and intensify the magnetic field of the vertical component, by fitting a nonmagnetic conductive member to the side of a film of a magnetic substance having high magnetic permeability around which a coil is wound. CONSTITUTION:A coil 52 is wound around a main magnetic pole 51. Since the magnetic flux density of this type of head becomes highest at the coil 52 wound part, a magnetic substance 53 having high magnetic permeability is put along the coil-wound part to avoid saturation of the coil wound part. In the head having such constitution a nonmagnetic conductive member 54 is installed to both sides of the end part of the main magnetic pole 51 or to an edge part at the downstream section in the running direction of a recording medium 55. When the non- magnetic conductive member is installed to such type of head, in which a coil is wound around the main magnetic pole, as mentioned above, expansion of recording signal magnetic flux generated from the end part of the main magnetic pole can be prevented and, therefore, high-density recording can be realized.

垂直磁化記録方式は、面に垂直な磁化容易軸をもつ記録
媒体に、面に垂直な磁化を行う記録方式であって、高密
度記録に適するということで近年その研究開発が盛んに
行われている。そしてすでにこのような記録を達成する
垂直磁化記録ヘッドとして、第1図(a) 、 [b)
のような構造のものが提案されている。なお図中11は
記録媒体、12は主磁極、13は補助磁極である。この
ような垂直磁化記録方式においては、より高密度な記録
を実現するために磁気ヘッドから発生する磁界の垂直成
分が、できるだけ強いことが要求される。すなわち磁極
の先端に磁束がすべて集中し、側面への磁束の漏れがで
きるだけ少ないことが必要である。

印加することにより、記録媒体の面に垂直な磁化を行わ
せる垂直磁化記録ヘッドにおいて、前記高透磁率磁性体
膜の記録媒体に近い部分の側面に非磁性導電性部材を当
接し。
