In a pointer illumination device for an instrument that transmits and illuminates a light-transmissible pointer by passing illumination light from an illumination lamp, the pointer is integrally provided with a light-transmissible boss portion, and the pointer type is a transparent plate facing the bottom surface of the boss portion. A reflecting portion is formed around the illumination lamp to guide illumination light from the bottom surface of the boss portion to the periphery of the boss portion through the transparent plate, and also directs illumination light from the front of the pointer shaft toward the pointer side.
