In a torque converter with a direct coupling clutch 9 that mechanically connects a pump 1 and a turbine 4, a stator 7 equipped with vanes 14 is mounted on a fixed shaft 8, and the stator 7 is mounted on a fixed shaft 8, with the vanes 14 facing the torque converter flow path A.
