Abstract

PURPOSE:To manually feed paper sheets optionally by operating the selection switch of a control means according to the control information supplied from a recorded information generation part, thus carrying-out switching from the first feeding means to the second feeding means, when paper feed by cassette is carried-out continuously. CONSTITUTION:A recording means (including photosensitive drum) for recording the information supplied from a recording information generation part onto a recording material is provided. The first driver 24 for transporting the recording material to the recording means in the first mode (paper feed by cassette is assigned) and the second driver 25 for feeding the recording material to the recording means in the second mode (manual paper feed is assigned) are provided. These drivers 24 and 25 are selectively driven when a selection switch 23c is operated according to the control information supplied from the information generation part, and selectively operate the corresponding motors 26 and 27, and the recording material is supplied through manual paper feed or paper feed by cassette. The selected mode for paper feed is displayed by indication lamps 23a and 23b.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Field of Industrial Application] The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus having, for example, a cassette paper feeding mechanism and a manual paper feeding mechanism. [Prior Art and Its Problems] Conventional printer devices are broadly classified into line printer devices, which were developed as output devices for electronic computers, and serial printer devices, which were developed from typewriters, which were document output devices. A line printer is characterized by printing a large amount of numerical output at high speed, and the paper feed to the line printer device is continuous paper 9
Both sheets are fed from cassettes.

On the other hand, serial printers output documents at low speed and in small quantities.
It is characterized by high print quality, and when printing on a serial printer device equipped with cassette paper feed and manual paper feed, manual paper feed is given priority over cassette paper feed. For this reason, when printing with single manual feed, if the manual feed is not completed before sending the print data, the paper will automatically be fed from the cassette, so place the printer on the host side that sends the print data. Printer placement is limited, and if one printer is shared by multiple hosts, it becomes difficult to match the print data from each host with the feeding means, making it difficult to print using manual paper feed. There were drawbacks such as the inability to interrupt.

First, depending on whether you are manually feeding paper or cassette paper feeding, the motor 26
Or specify the system for which motor 27 drives one. There are two ways to do this: one is to specify the paper feeding method from the host side that sends the data, and the other is to specify it by the manual feed/cassette changeover switch 23c on the printer side. Hereinafter, referring to FIG. 4, explanation will be given in order from the case of specifying the paper feeding method from the mailbox side. In addition, in Figure 4, (41
) to (57) represent each step.゛When the print data code 1133 having the code of cassette paper feed designation code 32 or manual paper feed designation code 34 is input to the CPU 22 via the input 17F times u21 (
41), the CPU 22 must determine whether it is print data or not.
2) If it is print data, perform print data processing. If it is not print data in step (42), it is determined whether the paper feed specification code is 31 or not (43), and if the paper feed specification code is not 31, a code analysis is performed; If the next code is the cassette paper feed designation code 32 or the manual paper feed designation code 34 (44), then if the cassette paper feed designation code is 32, the display lamp 23b of the display unit 23 should be set to 0FFL (51). 23a ON L, (52), check the presence of print paper (53), if there is no print paper, display paper out (54), wait for print paper,
If there is printing paper in step (53), it is determined whether or not printing is in progress (55), and if printing is in progress, it is determined to wait until the end of printing (56), and if printing is not in progress in step (55), the paper feed roller 55) .. The CPU 22 sends a drive signal to the motor 26 that drives the conveyance roller 6.
When the paper feed roller 5 and the conveyance roller 6 start to be driven, the print paper is conveyed to the photosensitive drum 1.
2. In order to synchronize with the scan laser unit 10, the print paper is once stopped by the registration shutter 7, and after synchronization, exposure is started. On the other hand, in step (44), the code following the paper feed specification code 31 is the manual paper feed specification code 3.
If it is 4, turn off the display lamp 23a of the display section 23.
(45), turn on the display lamp 23b (4El),
Next, check whether printing is in progress (47), and if printing is in progress, wait until the printing is finished (48), and if printing is not in progress in step (47), press the upper opening leek 3.
The CPU 22 outputs a drive signal to the driver 25 to the motor 27 that drives the lower roller 4 (49), and after outputting the drive signal, the paper feed sensor 9 detects the passage of the printing paper (50), and the photosensitive drum 12 degree scan laser φunits)
In order to synchronize with 10, the print paper is once stopped by the registration shutter 7, and after synchronization, exposure is started. In this way, the operator can distinguish whether the paper feed designation code 31 specified by the host side is the cassette designation or the manual feed designation by lighting the display lamps 23a9 and 23b.

A manual paper feed ON signal is output (63). Note that continuous paper is used for cassette feeding, and sheet paper is used for manual feeding, and depending on the content of the print data, documents such as letters and reports may be fed sheet paper manually. It is also possible to select a feeding system that feeds paper and prints numerical information by feeding continuous paper using a cassette feed like a line printer. We adopted a method of specifying the paper feeding method from the sending host side using a special code that can be identified from the print data, but the input I/F that connects the host side and the printer side was used.
It is also possible to provide a dedicated signal line as a paper feed designation signal line among the signal lines of the circuit, and use this dedicated signal line to designate paper feed from the host side.

As described in detail above, according to the present invention, paper feeding by the first feeding means can be switched to feeding by the second feeding means at will according to the host's designation of the feeding means. Furthermore, by displaying the feeding means that is currently printing, it is possible to instruct the operator to perform a feeding operation. Further, since the feeding means can be specified by the print data sent from the host side, there are advantages such as being able to feed paper according to the purpose of each feeding means and improving overall printing efficiency.
