Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a highly efficient low cost treater by a method wherein film delivered from hopper is humped and the resultant compacted film is chopped into pieces by means of ultra-high pressure water and, after that, the film pieces are rinsed and collected in order to be transferred. CONSTITUTION:A lump of film F in a hopper 1 is fed in a compactor 3 in order to be tightly compacted and cut off into pieces by being ejected with ultra-high pressure water from a nozzle 4B. The shredded film pieces (f) fall down in a cleaning tank 7 and shifted on and along a net 8 towards an overflow port 11. The rinsed film pieces (f) fall from the port 11 onto a net conveyer 12 and are drained water therefrom so as to be moved to a boxcar in order to be carried to a trater for reuse. Thus, even film in dirty state can be easily shredded, because lumps of film F are compacted at the compactor 3 and chopped into pieces with ultra-high pressure water at a shredder 4. Further, the rinsing and shifting are efficiently performed, resulting in facilitating the following treatment for reuse, because the chopped film pieces (f) are led in the cleaning tank 7 and rinsed while flowing through the tank 7 and collected to the following transfer device.

Conventionally, a knife is used to shred or crush the waste plastic film into pieces, but the film is easily damaged by dirt, dead leaves, and other impurities that adhere to the film. Also, because it is flexible, it is difficult to cut and is inefficient, contributing to the soaring cost of recycling.

A wide cleaning tank 7 is arranged below the lower compression rollers 3C and 3D, and the compression rollers 3C-3D are offset to one end of the cleaning tank 7. A net 8 is placed slightly below the water surface of the washing 41!7 to prevent the fragmented film pieces from sinking. The cleaning water supply pipe 9 opens at the edge of the sliding door on the side of the compression rollers 3C and 3p,
The structure is such that a constant flow is generated in the tank 7 so that it is ejected and overflows to the opposite side. The bottom of the cleaning tank 7 is inclined and communicates with a drain pipe 10.

The film is shredded but still compressed and falls into the cleaning tank 7, where it is immediately loosened by the water flow. The fragmented film pieces f move on the flow toward the overflow roller 11 on the net 8. Due to the contact with the netting 8, dirt, dried grass, and other impurities adhering to the film piece f are scraped off. The above-mentioned impurities that have fallen from the film piece f are precipitated and discharged together with the waste water through the pipe lO.
