A stator core wound with a stator coil and fastened in the axial direction by a support ring is inserted into a box frame having a plurality of frame plates on the inner periphery, and the support rings of the stator core and the box frame are connected to each other. In a stator of a rotating electric machine which is fixed to a frame plate, a plurality of notches are provided on the outer periphery of the support ring, and a predetermined cutout along the circumferential direction is provided near the inner periphery of the frame plate opposite to the notches. A long slit is provided, a tapered hole is provided approximately in the center of this slit, and a pin is driven into this tapered hole to deform the inner peripheral side of the frame plate, and this deformed portion is used as a support ring.
