PURPOSE:To stop surely a tape at a prescribed tape position by making the tape speed nearly constant at the high speed tape running while setting plural tape speeds and using only the rotation information of a winding reel motor at the low speed tape running. CONSTITUTION:An output of a speed command circuit 21 is inputted to a speed set reference voltage circuit 23, whose output voltage is changed over to output a high (or low) voltage when the tape speed is at a high speed (or a low speed). An output of a mixing circuit 24 is inputted to a winding side speed comparator circuit 14, the output is compared with a reference voltage from the speed set reference voltage circuit 23, an output of a winding speed comparator circuit 14 is inputted to a winding-side reel motor drive circuit 16 to apply speed control of a winding side reel motor 8.
